The NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Router, with breakthrough Tri-Band WiFi 5 delivers multiple bands for homes with many WiFi devices. WiFi speed up to 3.2Gbps and 6 high performance antennas provide maximum speed and range. Smart Connect allows you to game, stream, and download mega-sized files without lags.
Q: How many wireless connections can this router handle at one time?
A: I don't know if I can give you a hard number, all I can tell you is what we have on our home network, and all work well with faster speeds (we subscribe to Comcast) and better range over our prior router a Netgear 6300 (a good router as well) Along with home-based business with two computers, and two wireless printers; we have four tablets, four smart phones, smart TV, three laptops, and a smart thermostat. We let the router choose the best band for each except on our tablets which we configured for 5G.
Q: how far is the distance on the wifi?
A: Inside my my neighbors house 3 bars. Thats about 65 feet and 3 walls. Make sure the router you use is above your pc and not in line with lets say a flat screen tv or huge mirror in the direction you most want to use it. What I still like about this unit is ease of use and compatibility with old and new device wifi security capabilities.
A: YES! This was one of our issues. We have the Xfinity X1 platform. The modem/router combo provided by Comcast, couldn't handle all the devices in our home. Soon as we hooked up the Nighthawk, ALL problems solved!!
A: I had the same exact issue. I also work from home and need a constant signal to download, upload, and view high resolution videos and photographs. The Nighthawk resolved all of my issues and actually extended the signal to several feet away from my property. You wont be disappointed. PS: my WiFi speeds are identical to those when connected via Ethernet.
A: No you can't use this by itself. You also need a cable modem box. This Nighthawk unit is only a wireless router, and a great one at that. Your rental box modem should work fine with this, just plug it in and follow easy setup instructions that come with it. But why lease a modem from the cable company, if you are spending money on a good wireless router, when you can also buy a great modem for $100 or less.
A: if your actually talking about the old DSL protocols then this would be a waste of money as you will never get what it is designed to do.. If your referring to the more modern type DSl/Fiber like Uverse or Verizon I cannot speak for Verizon but for Uverse Max 45 MB internet (all that is available to me in my area) I have no issues with speed etc. wifi speed test on my desktop with 10/100/1000 wireless l peak around 42 -47 MB hard wired I peak 46 - 48 MB . This router will not boost the speed your paying for so if you have 16 MB internet that is pretty much where you will be in most cases. A+/N+/S+ I.T Tech 17 years
A: If that modem is a wireless router, then you will have to disable it and then connect to this product. If it doesn't you just run cable from port 1 into this product
Q: Still cannot get good wifi service in one part of home
A: The powerline by netgear worked for me after the super router did not.
