Customers are saying
Customers value aspects beyond the gameplay, but some found the gameplay repetitive and uninspired on higher difficulty levels. The new mechanics, such as the infected arm, were criticized for being more of a hindrance than a helpful addition. Negative feedback also targeted the game's focus on overwhelming the player with numerous enemies. Overall, the gameplay experience appears to be a significant source of customer dissatisfaction.

Not as tough as the previous games, this is an enjoyable slice and dice experience for newcomers looking for an easy ride.

If you are a fan of the first two you won't like this game! The story line is nothing like the first two. However, If you have never played the first two ninja gaidens then you will probably like this one.
In the first two ninja gaidens Ryu's character movements were smooth with a variety of attacks. This one is choppy and Ryu seems to just do want he wants. In short, it's a button mashing game and if you are like me button mashing games are no fun!
The cinema reels are okay but nothing like the first two. It's almost like the creators threw this together to make a quick buck.
In summary... I expected more!

For a fan of the Ninja Gaiden series, Ninja Gaiden 3 shys away from various elements that have made it so successful in the past. It's still brings the blood and gore hack and slash gameplay and vivid graphics but apart from that much has changed. Ryu now only carries the katana as the main weapon through the entire game, and arrows are now infinite with less damage dealt respectively. The entire concept of the infected evil arm is more of an annoying hindrance that does not develop much from there. The skill needed to pre-plan a way of attack is no longer needed as the difficulty of the enemy AI is almost gone. Although sometimes fun, another difference is the boss battles which are now cinematic button pressed sequences (Example: press "A" when it appears on screen). This game also brings a completely unneeded competitve online multiplayer apart from the main campaign. For fans of the series, Ninja Gaiden 3 is one ninja game that should just be left in the shadows.

Team Ninja Dropped The Ball

I'm a hardcore Ninja Gaiden player. I finished Pt. 1 and 2 on the Xbox and 360 respectively on their hardest mode.
This game doesn't follow the same story line (which are strange story lines and a bit incoherent to start) and has Ryu as more of a military agent. I'm well into the game and the gameplay has become very repetitive on Hard and the enemies are all the same. They added some new things like climbing up a sheer wall and jumping out of high buildings, but these haven't added anything to the gameplay. I also find the things that are yelled out ("That da** ninja" and the S word) during gameplay were excessive, repetitive and again didn't add to the game.
As other reviewers noted, you only get 1 weapon and the gimmick of the poisoned arm is silly and just gives you the ability to play in slow motion. Your ninpo abilities are severely limited in this game also.
I'll probably finish it because I tend to finish games I buy, but I would say this has been one of the biggest disappointments I've found this year.
Ninja Gaiden is known for it's brutally hard gameplay and amazing graphics. This has the graphics, but not the gameplay. I know Team Ninja replaced many team members after NGII but they should have stuck with what gave them their previous success. I wouldn't buy this again.
I would recommend any of the other games below over this one. Bayonetta and Darkness 2 are ok but better than this. Batman is great! Ninja Gaiden 1 is Awesome and Ninja Gaiden 2 is pretty good (but neither is carried by Best Buy anymore)

Graphically stunning with great sounds, but that's about it for the good points. I played this game across five nights, probably about 2 hours a night and beat it easily. Ninja Gaiden 2 took me several months and many hours to complete, which threw me on this game. As everyone else said, the story was weak, the gameplay was too easy and the game seemed rushed. Hopefully this series can be brought back to prominence on Ninja Gaiden 4.

I purchased the game and had to agree with the reviewers who stated it was a well written game, but lacked much on the attack combinations. And ended up being a button masher.
Awesome graphics, good story line, but even some RPG games have more of an attack combination then this game.
I'm not an avid follower of the Ninja Gaiden series, but it's not too horrible that I won't finish it and at least enjoy the graphics.

Game is terrible focused way to much on how many enemies you could fit on the screen at one time. Movement is terrible Ryu basically does what he wants. Don't buy this game worst game in the series.
