Q: Am I able to install it myself or am I locked into paying the $150 installation fee?
A: As of June the ORBY web site now lists the self installation kit for $ 85.00. Supplies that you may need that the kit may not have are ground lugs, ground wire, multi switch/splitter (*specific to *ORBY/FTA systems for 3 & 4 receivera), RG6 or better coaxial cable and pitch patch/tar pad (for a roof mount). Q: Will you have rain out on the pic.
A: As with any satellite television service very heavy rainfall can temporarily cause a disruption in service. That being said, Orby TV has an advantage in this regard. If a storm causes you to lose your satellite feed, you should still be able to access local channels through the TV antenna (attached to the satellite dish). That could be extremely important if there is a severe weather event in your area and you want to access local channels for news and information.
Q: Does the DVR record local channels or just satellite channels?
A: it records both
A: Yes, both of those channels are included in the basic $40 or $50 tiers of service.
A: The install is only $25 now. There are no other fees except for $4 a month if you have a DVR.
Q: How many programs can you record at one time? 1? 2? 3?
A: Two programs at a time for each DVR receiver. If you have four DVRs you could record up to 8 programs.
Q: Can you get Latino Stations on this plan for the $40.00 a month
A: In the Dallas area I get Enlace , 3ABN Vista, Univision , Telemundo, TeleXitos, Azteca, UMas, Estrella, Estrella DT2, and a few more religious ones. We have 4 more local Spanish stations than our previous providers. You may get more or less depending on your market and how friendly your home is to terrestrial television stations. There don’t seem to be any Latino or Spanish stations included in the $40 satellite channel package until you step up to the $50 package which includes roughly 4 Latino networks.
Q: What are the channels like do it include syfy,CNN HBO etc.
A: Yes. Currently you can add Staz, Epix, Cinemax and HBO.
