Q: Is that the remote just for PlayStation vue
A: No, this remote controls the entire Playstation. It has all of the same buttons and acts the same as a DualShock controller. It does have extra buttons to control video playback for pause, play, fast foward, rewind, etc. It connects through Bluetooth and does not require a direct line of sign, similar to a DualShock controller.

A: yes it does i do it all the time
Q: How do you open this to put the batteries in ?
A: I think the entire back slides off. It takes practice. I had trouble at first myself.
