A: I originally bought a sc-95 receiver. I returned it, and paid the extra money for the sc-97. The selling point for me (sc-97) is that it has a phono input. That also means it has a discreet phono preamp to handle the phono. I have a few turntables, and hundreds of vinyl. That was the deciding factor for me.
Q: How well will this pioneer receiver drive a set of Klipse RF-711 speakers?
A: With a sensitivity rating of 101db at 1 watt per 1 meter these speakers of yours are very efficient and this excellent Pioneer should have no trouble at all driving them. I have a 41 year old Sony STR-6800SD that drives my Klipsch R-15Ms (purchased at one of my local Best Buy stores) with authority and could easily do so with your much larger Klipsch speakers. My experience with both Pioneer and Onkyo receivers has always been positive.
Q: has the DTS:X firmware been released for this receiver yet?
A: The DTS:X firmware has not been released yet.
Q: Can you connect an iPod to this unit since it doesn't have Bluetooth? Thanks for your time!
A: It does have Bluetooth and you can connect an iPod. I am streaming Pandora to it from my IPhone vis Bluetooth.
