Iggy releases another winner
Before an Iggy named Azalea there was another Iggy tearing up the music scene and setting trends. James Ostergerg has been known as the leader of the "Proto Punk" band The Stooges and so much more. He has been an influence musically to several generations of musicians and fans. This, his 17h studio record, was produced by Josh Homme from the Queen of the Stone Age and also features members of the Queens and the Arctic Monkeys. It is Iggy doing what Iggy does best-bringing you his own unique brand of Garage Rock...nothing more and nothing less.

A living legend in his prime
When I first heard about Iggy Pop teaming up with members of Qotsa and Arctic Monkeys for a new record, I was very skeptical. I mean, I always picture him as the brawny, snarling voice of punk icons The Stooges. I just figured there's no way his style would translate into Homme's unique style of desert rock, but I was DEAD wrong. This album has heart, soul, groove, sweat and blood permeating throughout. "American Valhalla" is probably the best song I've heard all year and paired with the single "Gardenia" this one-two punch alone is worth the price of admission for me.

A Pop Classic
I'm a fan, but I recognize that a new Iggy album is a hit and miss adventure. Sometimes you get a classic like The Idiot, Lust for Life or Brick by Brick. Sometimes you get Zombie Birdhouse or Party.
This one is a Pop classic created with an all-star band that obviously loves him and cherishes the chance to perform with Jim. They say this might be his last. If so, he goes out on top.
Here's hoping that he has at least one more in him!
