A: No this doesn’t make the video an input. It’s only an output

A: It works on Surface Pro 1 & 2, idk 3-6, not on 7:)
Q: Trying to connect through an HDMI monitor cable, will this work as an adapter for that?
A: Yes, used the "Mini Display Port to HDMI 2.0 adapter" to connect the monitor's HDMI cable to the Microsoft-Surface Dock's mini display port. Now able to use both monitors with the Surface Pro. Attached photo shows using two of the Mini Display Port to HDMI 2.0 adapters with the HDMI cables connected into the adapters, and connected to the Microsoft-Surface Dock's mini display ports.
