A:AnswerI bought this to connect my receiver to a google audio cast. The receiver has an optical port and the cast only a 3.5. It worked perfectly. Just plugged in the adapter and it worked.
A:AnswerI can tell you I tried using this for 3.5mm audio to optical connection and it did not work. Don't waste your time or money. Find another solution
A:AnswerToslink is a digital format, and a cable cannot convert digital to analog, or vice versa. In order to connect your headphones to the TV you need a headphone jack on the TV. If they're isn't one, you would need a DAC (digital to analog convertor). The Toslink cable would connect to the DAC's digital input, and you could connect the headphone's to the DAC's analog output.
A:AnswerThat's my understanding. My TV also has just the Digital Audio Out, so you need this adapter. The Optical plug will plug into the kind of square end, then the adapter plugs into the TV Digital Audio Out port. Good luck. I ordered one from another company and could not get the Optical plug to snap in place, but this one did.
A:AnswerYes, plug this adapter in the audio out on the ChromeCast Audio. A optical cable with then fit onto this adapter to use on your DAC or soundbar.
