Q: QuestionOn the Bissell web site, they recommended washing pads in cold water, no bleach and line dry. If I am using them to clean a floor I need at least hot very hot water to wash. Has anyone had a problem using hot water to wash the pads?

• A:Answer I've only used the mop once since I purchased it, but I definitely had to use hot water to wash the pad since it was pretty grimy upon removal. I was almost tempted to run it through the wash cycle once more to thoroughly clean it. I wonder why they advise using cold water when it uses the hot steam to clean.

• A:Answer I actually don’t fill it up because I know it’s not going to use that much water. And since I use distilled I don’t want to waste it. Anyway I just turn mine upside down in the sink (after I have taken the dirty cloth off first). It’s very light weight. Then I leave the top open so it can dry out. That part may not be necessary but I’m ocd so I do things like that

• A:Answer Hi Cici - the 1806 is the newest of all three machines, the 31N1 is the oldest. The 31N1 uses a water filter and has a smaller foot compared to both PowerFresh machines. The 1806 is a newer version of the PowerFresh with some cosmetic changes, a new holder for scent discs, internal water tank, and an improved grout brush.

• A:Answer The mop recommends distilled, but I would imagine that is an attempt to avoid hard water build up within the machine. If you do not have hard water, this may not be a large concern, but using distilled could prolong the life of the mop.

• A:Answer All products from BB come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty. I can’t say for sure on this product yet if it’s a replacement warranty but the GSP (geek squad protection) generally covers what the warranty covers and then some, and if it can’t be repaired it’s replaced. I believe on a product like this you could get a 2 or 4 year plan and if anything broke you go into your closest Best Buy, tell them what’s wrong, and they will take care of you.
