A:AnswerYou were printing using the wrong settings. The pigment-based black ink is for 'laser-like' output on plain paper. That's what flaked off your photo paper. You need to make sure that your printer's settings specify the dye-based black ink.
A:AnswerMy understanding is that there is a general shortage of printers due to Covid related production issues and the greater use/purchases of printers due to home schooling & work. Things will get better.
A:AnswerI have not experienced it smudging on regular cardstock. It smudged just a little when I used a glossy cardstock. If I had waited an extra minute or two after printing, I'm sure it would have been fine.
A:AnswerI don't use Drop Box, but I'm familiar with the ways that programs (apps/applications/software) deal with scanners. It's not the scanner that's the question -- it's the program. I've just been to the Drop Box FAQ pages, and the claim there is that Drop Box will scan documents directly into 'itself', so you shouldn't have to create any intermediate files and then post them. I suspect the Drop Box app has some dialog that not only does the scan, but makes sure you provide a name and keywords for the scanned document, and probably also set access controls. If you are using Drop Box, poke around in the menus and see what you can find; the answer is probably that direct; if not, consult the manuals, talk to your IT staff, or contact the Drop Box folks.
A:AnswerYes, I assume it does. Microsoft claims I'm using Windows 11, but the build starts with a 10. something, last time I looked. The chances are very, very good. Yes, it will work with a direct USB connection, and a cable is supplied, as I recall. In any case, I had the needed cable when the WiFi went on the fritz a few weeks ago; I plugged it in, and it worked fine -- it installed as a different printer with almost the same name. By the way, I fairly happy with the printer. It has its quirks, and it will tell you its out of ink long before you really are (I've put together a test page that reveal whether I'm really out or not). But my thought on setting it up were, hey, I've got a real printer now, instead of a toy.
