  • QuestionWill this work on a 3.0 minifridge insignia?, I'm going to put it on my tractor trailer. I just don't know if that will be enough power

    Asked by Jason.

    • Answer Based on the power specifications offered by Insignia, the 3.0 Mini fridge is rated for 180 Watts for normal operation. What's not offered is the start up or surge current. However, your Cobra Pro 2500 Watt inverter is designed to handle much larger motor loads with known startup surge currents so the 3.0 Mini fridge shouldn't be any problem.

  • QuestionWill this work good on my 22 Ram 2500 diesel? I'm trying to find something for small appliances and power tools. Is there a limit to how long the inverter can be on without hurting the batteries? Or will it depend mainly on fuel?

    Asked by Manny.

    • Answer Thank you for your question. To answer your question, it depends on the battery in your Ram. The inverter must only be connected to batteries with a nominal output voltage of 12 volts. Please do not connect the power inverter to a 6 Volt battery and will be damaged if connected to a 24 Volt battery. For each piece of equipment you will be operating from the power inverter, you need to determine the battery's reserve capacity. This capacity indicates how long the battery can deliver a specific amount of current. In the case of automotive batteries, this is typically measured at 25 amperes. Another relevant measurement is the ampere-hour capacity, which indicates how many amperes a battery can supply over a specified period.

  • QuestionWanting to run a insignia11.5 bottom refrigerator in my camper will the cobra 2500w inverter run it and will it pass thru when camper is plugged into 50 amp service

    Asked by JT.

    • Answer Thank you for your question. This may not be achievable as we use a modified sine wave in the 2500W inverter, which is not suitable for appliances with motors.

  • QuestionGoing camping soon, will this be able to power a 1500W griddle grill long enough to cook food by hooking it up to my 2018 Jeep Renegade car battery while the car is running?

    Asked by Matt.

    • Answer Some practical considerations for powering a 1500W griddle using the vehicle engine start battery... 1) The input current to your power inverter should be around 1666 Watts (taking into account conversion efficiency). The input current to the inverter will be around 117 Amps. 2) If the vehicle alternator can output more then 117 Amps then there should be no risk to discharging the engine starting battery. 3) if the vehicle alternator output is less than the inverter current draw then the battery will start to discharge. 4) For reference, a typical engine starting battery will have an 80Ah charge capacity. Using that figure, a 1500 Watt inverter load will operate for about 41 minutes to fully discharge the battery. 5) with the Engine and charging system operating and a 1500 Watt load at the inverter output, your run time may increase. Those are some of the nuts and bolts to get a better idea of what's going on with an inverter operating high power loads from the engine starting battery. The only concern with this configuration is that you are out camping and using an engine starting battery to power a 1500 Watt grill. If you're not careful you might end up draining your jeep battery adding an unwelcomed complication to your camping trip. The safer bet is to power the inverter from a deep cycle battery with a charge capacity sufficient to provide the required operating time.

  • QuestionDies the power source need to be running for the investor to operate?

    Asked by Don.

    • Answer All Cobra power inverters are energy conversion devices and do not contain a battery power source to operate from. They require an external DC power source such as a battery connected to the inverters DC input terminals in order to function properly and output AC power.

  • Questioncan an inverter be powered with a 120 volt generator?

    Asked by frankie12.

    • Answer If you are talking about a gas generator then it's not advisable. Unless you're generator has a DC out option that you'll be connecting to. But even then, it has AC outlets for a reason. If you're thinking of "stacking" the two, i.e. generator output is 5,000 watts and inverter is 2,500 watts with the hopes of getting 7,500 watts then DO NOT DO THIS!!! Power does not work like that.

  • QuestionWill it power a 5000 btu window ac unit?

    Asked by Stretch.

    • Answer Yes this inverter can power a window AC unit as long as its required power load is less than what the inverter is rated for (2500W). Check the electrical ratings/specifications of your particular window AC model to verify its power requirements.

  • QuestionCan you power this device with solar panels?

    Asked by DeeDee.

    • Answer For best performance the inverter should be powered from a suitable battery with a charge capacity to suit the runtime requirements. To complete the system, add a solar panel array and MPPT to charge the battery system when possible and as needed.

  • Questionhow big of a microwave will this inverter power??

    Asked by M.

    • Answer The Pro 2500W has an AC output power rating of 2500 Watts. Most microwave ovens are around the 1000W power level however, check the serial number plate on your oven where it's power requirements are typically listed to confirm. Ensure your microwave oven doesn't exceed the maximum output rating of the inverter. Also, consider the battery runtime when powering devices from the Pro 2500W for best operating experiences.
