  • Q: Can you place it in dishwasher and wash? How many cups can you make?  (2 Answers)

    By Hadi

    • ANO! Electric Kettles never go in the dishwasher. In fact, you should never immerse your kettle into water. You're boiling water, not cooking soup. Why would you need such a thoroughal cleaning? Wipe the outside (once cooled) to keep it clean. If you have mineral deposits inside due to hard water, use a kettle descaler (add and boil water to remove deposits). If you rather go organic, fill the kettle with equal parts of water and vinegar. Let this soak for an hour. Once the hour is up, just boil the kettle. Then, empty the kettle and rinse it thoroughly. If you don't have any vinegar to hand, try lemon juice!

    • AAll kettles will bring water up to 85F, its just a matter of knowing when it reaches that temperature. You're right, most kettles will not start at 100F+, and this one doesn't have a temperature display at all, so it's probably not the one for you. Sounds like you're out to brew things other than tea... and your's is a much more difficult art to master. Besides, if you're out to brew what I think you're out to brew, this unit will be too small for you anyway. Stick to the equipment that was made for the job and get yourself a brew kettle. I'll increase your chance of success, and it'll be a whole lot easier with the right equipment.

  • Q: Is there any plastic inside the kettle??  (2 Answers)

    By Andy

    • AThere is a bit near the spout inside. It holds a little screen to help filter out any scale that may develop in the kettle bottom. I believe that the see-through column is plastic too. The interior bottom and interior sides are metal, however. I don't think there should be any concerns regarding this small amount of plastic. This product appears to be well-built.

  • Q: Could you use this with milk instead of water?  (3 Answers)

    By Kay

    • AMilk has a boiling point of 213.3 F which is just 0.3 F higher than that of water. But thanks to its higher fat content, casein and globules, a thin skin forms over the milk until it reaches its boiling point and then breaks to let it overflow. The result is like a white volcano erupting from your kettle. So no - you cannot use this or any other electric kettle to boil milk.
