A:Answer I don't know why it would not work. I use my 5020L's remotely via the internet.
At the camera end, you do not need a computer. You only need a router (wired ethernet or wi-fi) and an internet connection. At the viewing end, you need an internet connection and some PC/Mac software (e.g., iSpy) or Android or iPad app (e.g., IP Camera Viewer for PC)
Or you can use the MyDlink Services, which are free for the basics (I think...I don't use them...I use the software listed above). Using the software or DLink services, you can pan, tilt, operate the LED's, and a lot more. It's quite amazing....it works!
If you are not tech-savvy, you may wish to get the assistance of somebody who is. Depending on which route you take, you may need some detailed knowledge about how to set up static IP addresses, port-forwarding, etc. If you go the DLink services route and use the setup wizard, however, I think it's a pretty painless setup even for novices.
