- Answer You will have to buy a microphone with that model. It's separate because the cameras are waterproof and with the mic it's not.

- Answer Hi Trev, thank you for your inquiry. The only difference is the number of cameras that you can have the DVR recording through. They are otherwise the same with feature and functionality!!

- Answer That's a great question! If you bury the cables, they must be sealed in waterproof conduit to avoid damage to connections and wiring.

- Answer Thank you for your interest in Defender Adys! The DVR would need to be connected to the router using an Ethernet Cable in order to remotely view the cameras on a device such as an iPhone with the Defender HD app.

- Answer Thank you for your question Dave! For standard on site recording, monitor and viewing through a connected monitor or TV, WiFi is not required. If you wish to view the system on a mobile phone, the DVR would require a hardwired internet connection.

QuestionIs a PC and WiFi necessary for setup and operation? This is being installed at my parents house and they do not currently have WiFi I have a monitor to connect to the dvr for viewing. I feel certain that WiFi would be necessary for remote monitoring.

- Answer Great question DanRad. For any kind of remote viewing, an internet connection would be required. It would not require a wireless WiFi connection however. The DVR needs to be connected to a router for online viewing For standard on site viewing, the DVR can be connected to a TV using an HDMI or VGA connection.

QuestionWill the cables from an old Defender system work with this system or would new cables have to be run?

- Answer While the cables will connect if BNC/DC, and video will transmit, the range and quality of the HD cameras may suffer being connected to a smaller gauge cable. To get the most out of the system, it is highly recommended to use the supplied cables and HD extension cables if needed.

- Answer Thank you for your question Dilcour. The DVR can be set to record only motion through a scheduling option. The motion detection options are also customizable by day, time, sensitivity and which areas to trigger.

QuestionHow user friendly is installing and using the mobile app? Most apps are hard to impossible to get set up/started. Really frustrating if you're not a computer geek.

- Answer Had mine and the wife's up and going within 15 minutes. Download the users manual from their website, follow the directions and you should be able to accomplish the same. There maybe a lag in connecting through the app at times but it is never longer then 5 minutes depending upon your home network.

QuestionDoes it continue to work if power goes off?

- Answer Great question Faye. The DVR itself doesn't have a battery backup. Once power is restored however, the system will power back on and continue to record using your previously set options.
