Q: QuestionI plan to replace my LCD Projector HC 5500 Mitsubishi - with a new Epson 3800 4K 3LCD Projector. My Question ??? Do I have to replace my Denon Receiver AVR - 1912 as well ??? Greatly appreciate your thoughts, Speedy
Asked by Speedy.
- A:Answer Your receiver does not need upgrading because of the projector. The picture is beautiful regardless. If you want 4K, Atmos and Dolby Vision, then you have to update a lot more than just the receiver. So much has changed in the last decade regarding sound, HDMI switching, and processing that you might want to refresh everything.

Q: QuestionIf I upgrade my home theater projector to a Epson 3800, do I need to upgrade my Denon AVR-1912 Receiver as well ???
Asked by Speedy.
- A:Answer From the video perspective, the Epson supports the latest 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 spec while your Denon does not. If you want to run Netflix HDR/Ultra HD player/latest XBOX/PS5 content through your Denon, it will be down-converted to SDR. If you don't plan on doing any of that (which I would assume you are else you wouldn't be looking at this projector), then your Denon HDMI is fine to run video through it. If you will be, then running video through your Denon means you'll be losing a bit of the projector's "pop". Alternative is to keep your Denon for audio only and run your video through an external 2-/3-/4-in, 2-out HDMI 2.0 video splitter that allows you to run sound from it to your Denon while video goes from it to your projector. No video down-conversion would happen. From an audio perspective, your Denon does not support Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision (latest two sound standards) which again, if you plan to go latest XBOX/PS5/Ultra HD player content, you would not be able to leverage the "latest and great sound" through your Denon.

Q: QuestionWhat cable do I need to connect audio out to a Yamaha receiver? I already have a digital audio cable but looks like that won't work for this model projector.
Asked by Alexi.
- A:Answer Hi, I too also have a Yamaha receiver and same projector, it's a simple fix. You'll need to purchase a 3.5 mm AUX to 2RCA Y splitter stereo audio cable. Mines so happens to be 25 ft, since my projector is ceiling mounted, the cable is run through the ceiling into my media closet. Plug the 3.5mm AUX into the audio output of your projector and the 2RCA into your Yamaha AV receiver port, should work great!!!

Q: QuestionHow far are the mounting holes diagonally? I wonder if I can use a projector mount like VIO VP02W.
Asked by Typo.
- A:Answer Hi Typo, The Home Cinema 3800 has four mounting holes. All should be used for mounting. Side to side the mount holes are 11.8 inches (300 mm), from front to back the distance is 6.3 inches (160 mm). Any mount should be capable of supporting at least 15.2 lbs (6.9 kg). Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.
