• A:Answer Hi - Great question! As of January 1994, all GE Appliances branded refrigerators moved from a rotary compressor to a reciprocating compressor. A reciprocating compressor, also known as a Scotch Yoke compressor, is designed to give years of reliable service. This type of compressor consists of a reciprocating piston operating in a stationary cylinder. Additionally, none of our refrigerators use linear (inverter) compressors. • A:Answer This refrigerator needs 60-1/2" for the doors to be able to fully open. The doors have to fully open for the drawers in the fresh food section to pull out. If you'd like, you can view more on this on page 24 of the Use and Care manual.

• A:Answer GE Appliances products are designed by GE Appliances engineers in the United States. Many are manufactured in the U.S. and others are made globally to our specifications. The country of origin is shown on the Model/Serial rating plate as well as the packaging. We do not place a lifespan on our appliances. There are many variables involved, like: frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance (ex. high humidity; near the ocean; etc.), care, and maintenance. This refrigerator is covered by a limited one-year warranty. Should an issue arise outside of the warranty period, we are always available to review your situation on a case-by-case basis.

• A:Answer No, this refrigerator does not have to be connected to a water line. If a water line is not available, you can turn the icemaker off to use the refrigerator without a water line.
