  • QuestionI have this unit. The washer seems unduly loud and noisy???? Is it or is my W/D not installed properly?

    Asked by Roy1.

    • Answer Hi Roy1 - Thanks for choosing GE Model GUD27ESSMWW! We are sorry to hear the washer is loud and apologize for any concern or inconvenience this has caused. Be certain the foam shipping pads were removed. Also, keep the leg extension at minimum to prevent excessive vibration. The farther out legs are extended, the more the unit will vibrate. We suggest viewing pages 2 and 17 of the Installation Guide here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-16781-3.pdf - We suggest viewing videos at the following link - UNITIZED WASHER NORMAL SOUNDS: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=36011 - Any other sounds may require a technician for an accurate diagnosis. • QuestionI just purchased this unit brand new. Sometimes when washing the cycle stops after wash. It does not continue to rinse and spin. I have to manually switch it to drain and spin to remove the water. Could this be due to the lid lock?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer I had the exact same problem in the beginning and I used a screwdriver to exercise the internal tab that is moved when you close the lid and never had an issue again, so yes it's the lid lock.

  • QuestionI am going to order it online. I need delivery and some one to install it. Do you provide the service?

    Asked by Rosie.

    • Answer Best Buy delivered and installed the washer/dryer.....just make sure that they install the drain hose correctly, as it feel out and we had a small flood in the condo. The next time all was well and they took care of any of the inconvenience and damage that was done. I ordered directly from the store, so I would just make sure that installation is part of the delivery to make sure

  • Questioncan you open lid during wash cycles

    Asked by me.

    • Answer Hi - Thanks for choosing GE Model # GUD27ESSMWW! Yes, you can open the lid during the wash cycle, however this washer has a security system that prevents opening the lid during the spin cycle. The lid lock prevents anyone (especially children) from reaching into the washer while the basket is spinning. The lid lock will release within 5 seconds after the basket stops spinning. Also, the water fill will continue with the lid opened, except when Precise Fill (on some models) is selected as the load size. The lid must be closed to continue filling when Precise Fill (on some models) is selected. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com for all your appliance needs! Sue

  • QuestionI put my clothes in and turned the washer on. It sounded like water was going in. I opened the lid and no water was in the washer. The clothes were wet. Is this normal? When it went to drain the water the clothes got all bunched it was off balance.

    Asked by Chi.

    • Answer Hi Chi - The Spacemaker washer load sensing feature (Precisefill) that automatically senses the size of your load, fills with the appropriate amount of water and calculates the amount of wash time required to complete the cycle. It does this by turning the basket back and forth several time prior to fill. The amount of time it takes for the basket to stop (or dampen) will determine the size. The lid must be closed to continue filling when Precise Fill is selected. See page 8 of the Use and Care Manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90581-3.pdf - An overloaded washer may become off balanced. See page 11 of the Use and Care Manual- Loading the Washer. Also, make sure the washer is level. Keep the leg extension at minimum to prevent excessive vibration. The farther out legs are extended, the more the unit will vibrate. • QuestionCan the washer and drier be separated if I have to replace only one of them? I the washer breaks, do I have to replace the whole thing?

    Asked by Vicky.

    • Answer Hi Vicky- Thanks for your interest! The washer and dryer cannot be separated or operated independently of each other. Unitized washer dryer units only have one power cord. There is not a separate cord for the washer and the dryer. If you prefer separate appliances, we also offer GE® 4.5 cu. ft. Capacity Front Load ENERGY STAR® Washer GFW430SSMWW and GE® 7.5 cu. ft. Capacity Front Load Electric Dryer GFD43ESSMWW. Optional Stacking Kit GEFLSTACK (sold separately). Keep in touch! Sue

  • QuestionI have an existing stacked washer-dryer in a closet location. I would like to replace it with this bigger unit if it will fit. The total closet depth is 35" but the existing water connections are 48" high and stick out about 3".

    Asked by jayw.

    • Answer Hi jayw - A 4" clearance should be adequate for installation. The unit is 30 7/8". Minimum clearance between dryer cabinet and adjacent walls or other surfaces is: 0” either side, 0” rear, 1” front, 1” top. The dryer is deeper in the rear than the washer. The overhang is 4" past the back panel of the washer, which means it sticks out past the vent, electrical, and plumbing connections. The dryer can sit up against a wall without adding any extra depth to the unit. This provides space for the connections in the rear. Because of this overhang, the unit does not need knockouts to vent to the left or right side. The vent elbow can be turned left, right, or down as needed. • QuestionDoes the unit have to have separate electrical outlets or does the 240 volt 30 amp take care of both washer and dryer combo in the machine by a separation switch??

    Asked by KJNolen.

    • Answer Hi KJNolen - Unitized washer dryer units only have one power cord. There is not a separate cord for the washer and the dryer. Electric Models should be connected to a dedicated 240V or 208V 30-amp time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. The 240/208V will power the dryer, and the unit internally steps it down to 110/120V for the washer. Power cord sold separately. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue

  • QuestionIs the dryer vent free? In another words, does it have a box that needs to be filled with water? Washer Capacity is for how many pounds pf clothing?

    Asked by Mami.

    • Answer My unit is not ventless and requires a dryer vent hose. Don't know about pounds of clothes but I just washed 3 pairs of jeans and at least a dozen shirts in a single load. Hope that helps

  • QuestionDoes the depth on the specs include a 3" clearance for the dryer vent? If not, wouldn't that push out the whole unit to a depth of about 33"? Thanks!

    Asked by Sallyk.

    • Answer Our unit is installed in a small closet built to accommodate it. Fit snugly against the back wall, the front of the unit is 34 1/2” from the back wall. 34 12” includes the space for wiring/piping. If I was going to rebuild this, I’d try to allow a couple extra inches. I think 35 1/2 to 37 would be idel for front back space, but 34 1/2 works for us. We are very pleased with the product.

  • QuestionCan this washer and dry be connected to the internet?

    Asked by Linda.

    • Answer Hi Linda- Model GUD27ESSMWW has limited WiFi Connect capability using the optional ConnectPlus module PBX10W00Y0 (sold separately). The washer can be monitored using the Laundry - GE Appliances app. Allows you to monitor cycle status and time remaining for the washer only; it does not allow for remote operation of the washer (Check washer cycle usage data, receive an alert when a cycle is finished, receive an alert when damp clothes remain in the washer for 30 minutes, provides service updates and diagnostics). You cannot monitor or control the dryer. Thanks for checking with us! SUE@GEA
