QuestionI purchased a 70 pints GE dehumidifier about 8 months ago. It was working fine until about 3 weeks ago. It is now just running continual without putting any moisture from the air. My bucket is completely empty after running for three weeks.

- Answer it has a filter!! - if the desired area is really toxic, i would recommend running an air filter also - you will see the color of the water collected. - if the water is at all dirty looking, your air quality is real bad!!! more air filtration is definitely needed!!! ps. NO HUMAN, NO ANIMAL should be sleeping or spending lengthy periods of time in areas with air quality that poor!!

QuestionI ran mine out of the box for about 20 minutes, then turned it off to move it to another area of the house. Is that going to cause an issue? I ask because I noticed that in the manual it says you need to run it 24 hours straight the first time you run it.

- Answer Yes. The operating characteristics of all dehumidifiers creates heat as a byproduct. As they are typically used in basements or below ground levels the heat factor is usually not an issue as the below level rooms are typically cooler due to ground insulation. But, the exhaust fan will always blow out heat.
