  • QuestionCould anything we wrong if washer keeps getting louder.

    Asked by Pete.

    • Answer Hello Pete - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. I'm sorry to hear that your washer is getting louder, and I'm happy to help you. Thumps, bumps, bangs, rattles, grinding, shaking, walking, or vibrating during agitation or the spin cycle typically occur after installation. If you are experiencing these sounds and the washer was recently installed, check the following: The shipping rod or shipping material was not removed during installation of the washer. Or, if the shipping rod or material was removed, then the washer may not be leveled properly. If the washer has been in use for some time and it is making one of these sounds, verify the washer is still level. Otherwise, we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

  • QuestionHow high should the water level be for an extra large load? It only seems to fill to about 2/3 the height of the tub.

    Asked by Mimi.

    • Answer Hi Mimi- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! This is normal. Your new washer is designed to meet current federal energy and water efficiency requirements. Although temperature settings and water levels may seem different than your previous washer, it will not affect wash performance. Loosely load clothes no higher than the top row of holes in the washer basket. The agitator design provides better circulation and turn-over of clothes and drives the clothes down into the water. See page 5 of the Owner's Manual online: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90532.pdf - Thanks for checking with us. Enjoy!

  • QuestionHow long from start to finish would a large load on light permanent press setting take in minutes? And how many gallons of water would that use?

    Asked by gatorgirl.

    • Answer Hello Gatorgirl, I am happy to help. The washer will adapt within the cycle and from load to load, so the actual water use will vary. The minimum water used is 12 gallons and maximum is 22 gallons. The cycle run times do not include the time it takes to fill or drain. For permanent press it takes approximately 13-22, if you add fabric softener option add 3.5 min. Keep in mind the fill and drain times are not included so it will be longer. I hope this helps. Lisa from GE Appliances.

  • QuestionWhy isn't there a cutout hole on the sides of this 27" model like there is on the 24" model? A rep at GE said there was but when it was delivered there was not one. Can I cut one out myself on one side so I can vent it thru the side?

    Asked by Karen.

    • Answer Hello Karen - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. The 27" washer/dryer combination unit does not have knock out holes for side venting, nor should you cut them. Please follow the Installation Instructions on page 9 for 27" models dryer exhaust to right, left or bottom cabinet. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

  • QuestionWhere is the GE GUD27ESMJWW made and is it direct drive? I am trying to compare it to the Whirlpool laundry centre WET4024EW if you know if it is direct drive and where it is made. Thank you, Carolyn

    Asked by Macicar.

    • Answer Hi Macicar- We are excited to hear of your interest! GUD27ESSJWW is manufactured globally. Appliances products are designed by GE Appliances engineers in the United States. Many are manufactured in the U.S. and others are made globally to our specifications. The country of origin is shown on the Model/Serial rating plate as well as the packaging. Manufacturing facilities (plant sites, where appliances are made) can and do change from time to time because GE Appliances continues to seek the most efficient manufacturing processes available. We make products all over the world for a Global marketplace. Therefore, your best source for manufacturing location is the packaging/product itself. Also, it is a belt and pulley driven system. We take pride in the craftsmanship, innovation and design that goes into every GE Appliances product, and we think you will too. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

  • QuestionWhere is the lint filter located for the GUD27washer?

    Asked by amari.

    • Answer Hi amari- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest in our GE Unitized Laundry Center! The washer does not feature a removable lint filter. The drain system allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint with the water. There is no maintenance required on this system. Thanks for checking with us!

  • QuestionCan the electric dryer be exchanged for a gas dryer?

    Asked by Ellie.

    • Answer Ellie, What you are asking is similar to exchanging your car's engine for a larger and more powerful one, and, oh yeah, while we're in there go ahead and swap the standard transmission for an automatic. Yes, it can be done, but the parts and labor would probably cost more than what your car cost in the first place. It's the same concept for swapping the integrated electric dryer components in your unitized system to convert it into a gas-powered system. But unlike with your car, I'm not sure whether such major surgery on a washer/dryer unit is even possible -- or legal. If you honestly prefer the gas-dryer version of this integrated washer/dryer unified system, you would be better off buying a brand new gas version of the entire integrated system, and then selling the electric version on CraigsList, eBay, or whatever. Just be aware that your integrated W/D weighs 241 pounds without a drop of water in it.

  • QuestionWHAT IS THE TOTAL WATTAGE OF THE GAS STACKABLE VS THE WATTAGE FOR THE ALL ELECTRIC STACKABLE

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Neither the owner's manual nor the installation instructions list the wattage consumed by the all-electric version of this W/D unit. However, the installation instructions do cite the electrical requirements as follows: "This appliance must be connected to an individual branch circuit, protected by the required time-delay fuses or circuit breakers. A four or three-wire, single phase, 120/240V or 120/208V, 60Hz, 30 amp circuit is required." All properly grounded, of course.
