  • QuestionWe just bought this washer and for some reason it fills with water but then stops and a green light flashes by fill. Won't finish washing. We just got it so I'm upset

    Asked by MommaB.

    • Answer Hello. Thanks for letting us know what is going on with your washer. We're sorry that you are having this problem with the fill especially after just getting it. We understand the inconvenience, and would like to offer some helpful information. Your washer is equipped with Consumer Help Indicator (CHI). CHI is our way to communicate a simple remedy for some situations that you can perform without the need to call for service. As soon as the light starts to flash, the washer will initiate a 4 minute lock-out period. The washer controls won’t respond/change during this time. After the 4 minutes, you can begin your cycle again. If you try to bypass the lock-out period by unplugging the washer, the 4 minute timer will start over again. If the problem persists, we recommend scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. You can do so by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). We hope this helps.- Kianna@GEA

  • QuestionHow much water is supposed to come in washer on small load?

    Asked by Deborah.

    • Answer We truly appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us about this great washer! We're happy to help. The amount of water that is used in a load is determined by the cycles that are selected, so there is not a proper estimate we can provide. However, rest assured, that your clothes will still be cleaned just as well, if not better, than with previous washers. • QuestionWhile using my hotpoint washer, why when the water is filling it go to hot to cold and I have it set for hot water only?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi there, We can certainly understand your concern with this and will provide an explanation. Heating water in your home uses energy. To conserve energy, new washers are designed to limit the amount of hot water used by adding some cold water to the fill when you select HOT water. This allows the washer to fill without causing your water heater to need to replenish as much hot water which reduces the amount of energy used by the water heater. On most Top Load washer models with a lid lock, the unit will only fill with hot water if the lid is down and locked. If the washer is set for hot or warm water and the lid is up, it will only fill with cold water. This is designed as a safety feature. Effective March 6, 2015: The U.S. Department of Energy revised their standards and Federal guidelines for hot water energy consumption for all clothes washers in order to save energy and conserve resources. These changes affect all washer manufacturers. All manufacturers must comply with the new standards. We are committed to meet the Federal energy standards and deliver a product that upholds GE Appliances wash performance standards. To comply with these standards, the HOT water temperature selection is a mixture of hot and cold water from your household plumbing. When you select HOT, you will receive some cold water with the fill. This is normal. Since the appliance is designed to fill with a mix of hot and cold water when HOT is selected, it is not recommended that the cold water supply be turned off during a HOT water fill. The appliance is designed to fill with a mixture of hot and cold water to save energy and is operating normally when doing so. We hope this helps. Have a good day! Mike@GEA

  • QuestionWhy is washer on soak cycle? I want to wash towels. It starts to wash and does for few moments then gos to soak and has been on soak longer than 15 minutes

    Asked by Confused.

    • Answer The exact same thing is happening to me, and it stayed on soak cycle for literally four hours until I gave up on it. This is NOT a long soak cycle, it's some issue with the washing machine. After four hours, I tried putting it to drain and spin cycle, to no avail.
