- Answer Hi there, Donald. Thank you for your question! This HP laptop (model: 17-cp3005dx) does not come with an ethernet/LAN port for hardwiring to the internet via a modem or network. You can purchase a USB to Ethernet/LAN adapter that can plug into one of the USB ports on this laptop to add this functionality to this laptop.

Questioni need a gaming computer or laptop. i would love to attempt my first gaming experience via computer (diablo immortal). would this particular laptop work? looking at diablo immortal specs is driving me crazy! requirements for the game itself is all greek.

- Answer Thanks for your question. This model would not be the best option for games. You will want to look at the HP OMEN or HP Victus gaming laptops. Those models will work for the game you are trying to play.

- Answer Thank you for your question about this HP laptop! To run Steam, you would need to take this laptop out of S Mode first, which has no charge to Microsoft. After that, it depends on the games you are looking to run and what settings they are. Additionally, the on-board video chipset pulls its video memory directly from the system memory, limiting what you can play with this. One alternative is an HP Victus gaming laptop: This line is sold through Best Buy, will run the Steam software right out of the box and it has a dedicated graphics card that has its own memory, leaving more for your games!

- Answer Thank you for the question. The HP 17-cp3005dx is presented with Windows 11 Home in S mode, and apps can only be downloaded from the Microsoft store. If apps that you need are not there, you have the option to move the OS out of S Mode, however, it's a permanent conversion. Please check the app/software manufacturer's website for the most current system recommendations.

The AMD Radeon graphics on this is built onto the system processor and not in a video card. it also shares its memory with the system RAM. If you need a dedicated graphics card while on a budget, the HP Victus gaming laptops would be what you are looking for and Best Buy carries them in-store.

- Answer The sticker on the power cord for me says "HPI 2724" and since you didn't mention that, I'm guessing that the cord itself has multiple potential numbers. If it helps, the "brick" part says "HP Part NO: L25296-003, replace with HP spare: 741727-001."

- Answer Hello and thank you for asking. The HP 17-cp3005dx laptop computer does not have an internal CD/DVD drive. If you need that capability, we suggest purchasing an external USB CD/DVD drive. They cost about $40 and up and are available at Best Buy.

QuestionTrying to use a second external monitor but it seems that I can only use one external. I need DUAL display on monitors, not mirroring. All the other ports (USB-A and C) are for data only. Is there any way around this? HDMI splitter will only mirror.

- Answer Hello and thank you for asking. The USB ports on the HP 17-cp3005dx laptop do not support a data transfer rate fast enough for video. That cannot be changed, short of a new laptop. HDMI does not support dual monitors, so you can add only one externnal monitor by using the HDMI port.

QuestionSo, sounds like Edge is my only option for browsing in S mode? Meaning, I can't load Chrome? How big a deal is it to take the laptop out of S mode?

- Answer Yes. Yes. Not very. BTW, HP is technically incorrect. Once S mode is eliminated, it can be restored--you just do a factory reset. This also wipes your drive, however.

- Answer Microsoft allows free, limited use of both of these, as well as PowerPoint, through a browser window. If that is all you need, you're fine, but if you want more options, you should buy or subscribe to a full version, even if it is the older 2021 copy, or use a free, compatible suite like Kingsoft.
