QuestionIs the 16Gb ram in this laptop is 1 x 16 gb installed or 2 x 8gb installed? Please tell me Asap. And also is there an extra slot or SSD inside the laptop or not?

- Answer The RAM installed is 2×8GB modules of DDR5-5600. The brand of RAM is Samsung, and the RAM model number is M425R1GB4PB0-CWMOL. There is only 1×M.2 2280 Gen 4 SSD slot running on x4 channels. The installed brand of SSD installed is Sandisk, which is a 512GB module with the model number SDEPNSJ-5126-1006. Some people have mentioned that their machine has a Samsung M.2 card. If Upgrading: Be sure to note that the RAM modules supported are 2×8GB DDR5-5600, 2×16GB DDR5-5600, and 2×32GB DDR5-4800. If you upgrade to the max capacity, you will not be able to use the Overclocked RAM speeds, and the motherboard officially supports DDR5-4800 up to 64GB total or DDR5-5600 [Overclocked] up to 32GB total. Be sure to note that the maximum supported SSD drive capacity is 4TB, and it must be Gen 4 or earlier, this will support a Gen 5 module, but it will perform at Gen 4 speeds. Do not use a SSD with a heatsink, as it will not fit properly, and will not be cooled properly. I hope you find this information useful. I do not work for Best Buy and am not associated with them at all. It took trial and error along with research to find the information pertaining to the RAM speeds supported by the motherboard.

- Answer From what I gather, there is only 1 M.2 slot for SSDs, but you can clone the existing drive to a larger drive and use that to boot into. If I had to guess, you can put any size M.2 NVME drive (I think it's a 4x4 PCIE M.2 slot), but anything over 2TB is still expensive.

- Answer TL;DR The cpu is good and the laptop is on hp's website. This laptop is a specific configuration of the 2025 HP Victus model lineup. The cpu is from Q2 2025, so it is very new, and if you follow the laptop buying guide from Linus Tech Tips (recommended), you'll find that based on the naming scheme it has a zen 4 architecture (which is good). The cpu is comparable to the AMD Ryzen 5 AI 340, a more known processor, and it will be sufficient for most casual and gaming tasks, unless they are very cpu intensive, which might require a processor with more cores. It can boost up to 4.7 GHz, which is very respectable. As for the cost, both this Cpu and gpu combo at $650 is incredibly cheap compared to other options. Also, the ability to upgrade your ram and ssd makes this a good option for old games or new games at medium graphics or high graphics at lower fps (this machine can handle beamng.drive on medium to high graphics at 30+ fps which is more than enough for me). I'd have to do more testing to really answer this but for now I'd definitely recommend it.

- Answer If you heard weird things about AMD Ryzen, you must have been talking to weird people. All Ryzen laptop APUs come with a built-in (integrated) GPU called an iGPU. Some Ryzen-based laptops (including this one) also include a discrete GPU (dGPU) such as the Nvidia RTX 4050, for example. So this laptop has both.

- Answer DDR5-5600 see “specifications” I can’t answer about gaming as I don’t, but it’s not a bargain basement integrated GPU. this includes an NVIDEA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU so look up specs but it’s certainly well, far, far above a CPU with integrated graphics.

- Answer No. This uses a Barrel Connector charger only. The USB-C port is for data and runs at USB 3.0 speed. It does allow for charging a device such as a smartphone through Power Delivery from the laptop.

- Answer Yes, it had an RJ45 jack for hardwired Ethernet connection to a router, but no mention of top speed. Unless answered below, probably 1 gigabit. Also has WiFi.

- Answer Yes, great for an ME student. Of course you could pay twice the price and that would get you a 3 pound laptop (this one is about 5, but don’t all students carry their laptop in a backpack?). It has a very good CPU and a good enough GPU to get the ME apps job done.

- Answer You have to buy an external DVD/CD drive that plugs into a USB A or USB C port. Basically, no modern laptops come with hard media drives anymore.

- Answer This is a great computer for editing. It has a dedicated graphics card and really good processor, just eventually upgrade the ram to 32 or 64 for even better performance. But can handle editing really well with what it has. Not too many options cheaper around with these necessary specs for editing purposes (at the moment)

- Answer It's decent for older AAA games at high settings, but you won't get playable frame rates at any higher settings. Games before 2023 should be fine. For anything newer and at reasonable frame rates, I would suggest going for a higher cost machine with an RTX 50 series GPU, or alternatively, an RTX 4080 or 4090. This is good for a budget machine.

- Answer Max TDP in this machine for the GPU is 65W. The heatsink heatpipes and dual blower fans can't handle cooling for anything more than that, so overclock at your own risk.
