- Answer The 2 pieces of plastic are only used during the transportation, to protect the gasket and you don't need them for daily use.

- Answer I plugged my Freezer in straight away and left to freeze down for 24hrs, at the Max setting. I left it at the Max setting and filled up with mainly non frozen food, the following day. Checked the day after that, circa 12 hrs later and everything was frozen and temp below zero. The instructions say that all freezers should be left to stand for a few hours to settle before plugging in, so best practice would be to do that, however i was in a rush and all seems to be ok.

- Answer To my knowledge yes, but not really a problem, we open ours once or twice a day, and not much frost build up. Don't leave it open very long, that's when it builds up frost.

Questionhas anyone added a lock? is it possible to do on this freezer? **i have owned this freezer for years and i know it doesn't have a lock. some chest freezers are designed so you can add a lock, others it will break it.

QuestionCan this be connected to a heavy-duty extension cord?

- Answer The mfg will probably instruct you to not use any extension cords. But I have used them with no problem PROVIDED you use no less than a 14 gauge rated extension cord, 12 would be best but most outlets in homes wire 14 gauge on a 15 amp circuit breaker so you make the call.

- Answer Cheaply made unit. Mine got damaged after 1.5 year, and lost ~20lbs of cow meat. So I wont be surprised if it got discontinued. Insignia customer service never answer my phone calls.

QuestionDoes this 10.2 chest freezer have an interior light and also an exterior light that shows that freezer is running?

- Answer no interior light but there is a light blue on the bottom front with control for cooling level. it is so quit cooled fast and when I say quit I hear nothing there is ice forming at hinges where the lid meets the seal (inside) I have had it a month. there's only one shelf 8 to 10 ins wide. above the compressor and one moveable basket 8 to 10 ins wide same deep for the price nothing I looked at came close. I would have liked an upright but nothing close to this volume and price
