A:AnswerThis TV has a cable connector on the back, so it should work fine with digital cable. Also, you should be able to use a universal remote with it, although it comes with its own remote. Consider buying the BestBuy 2 or 5 year warranty with it. If it goes on the fritz, you just take it back to the BestBuy store (no boxing it up and shipping it off) and they either fix it or give you a new one. My mom in assisted living home had a similar Insignia set; it fritzed out (under BestBuy warranty), and BestBuy gave her a new set! She also had her set hooked up to cable and it worked fine. Hope this helps!
A:AnswerHi! This is not a smart TV, however, you can connect a streaming device to one of the HDMI ports of this unit to make it smart and download streaming channels.

A:AnswerYes
A VHS/DVD Combo will work fine, there is an RCA component input on the right side toward the back all you will need is a standard RCA component plug and also, There are plenty of HDMI input in case your VHS DVD Combo has an HDMI out, if not just use the RCA out.
A:AnswerYes, when you connect an external audio device to the 3.5 mm headphone jack, the TV speakers should automatically turn off. You can use the remote to control the volume and mute the TV.

A:AnswerHi, I don't understand the term built-in speakers. I only know that this TV has a lot of options for audio and the speakers sound good and so the picture. This TV work with any cable company, I have FiOS and works great. Honestly, for the price, I was impressed and I like this TV. I hope I help you.
A:AnswerThe built-in speakers are located at the bottom (down firing), the sound quality is good for a small room. You can hook up a soundbar to enhance the sound.
