- Answer You can connect your source device into the HDMI IN on this Audio Extractor, then hook up your Monitor to the HDMI OUT on this Audio Extractor and your soundbar to the Optical Out on this Audio Extractor. If you need to show the same signal on 2 monitors, you can hook up an HDMI Splitter like the model RF-G1603 into the HDMI OUT on this Audio Extractor, then your monitors to the Splitter.

QuestionDoes this still allow the audio signal to pass through on the hdmi output cable at the same time it is extracting sound for the audio jack.

- Answer I had your same question and didn't find it here, but thankfully the PDF manual answers for us. It says: "An audio signal that matches the audio mode (2CH or 5.1CH) is also sent through the HDMI OUT port." Interestingly enough, it also mentions, that the 2ch or 5.1ch selected on the extractor becomes the ONLY audio sent through HDMI. So, if you wanted to have, say 7.1 audio going through HDMI to your TV/Receiver/SoundBar/etc and only extract 2ch-stereo for some other purpose, your HDMI would only send 2ch-stereo to your HDMI connected device, so keep that in mind.

QuestionSince new Apple TV doesn’t have optical digital audio port, I put this device in between my Apple TV and my receiver, and sent the optical audio to my outside speakers. Worked great. Problem is I lost the video. Any idea why? Good HDMI cables all the way.
