    • Answer Pentium Gold is a 2 core processor. The i3-9100 is 4 cores and 4 threads.

  • QuestionI'm looking to replace my processor, do you know what would be a good and cheap replacement for the Intel Core i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30 GHz? I am trying to spend as little as possible to have a better experience. What do you recommend?

    • Answer MemeMan, For a better experience, it would be advantageous to step up to the Intel Core i5-10400 Processor. The Intel Core i5 Processor is part of the newer launched 10th Generation Processor lineup which includes advancements over the 9th Generation Chips. The Intel Core i5 Processor has 6-Cores and with Hyper Threading available has 12-threads for those multi threaded applications. That's 2-more cores over the 9th Generation Intel Core i3-9100 Processor. Hyper Threading is not available on the 9th Generation Intel Core i3-9100 Processors. Also, cache is increased to 12mb of Intel Smart Cache over what the 9th Generation Intel Core i3 Processor accessed at 6mb. Thank you for choosing Intel

    • Answer Ron, Good question. Most DIYers will be adding their own Graphics Solution and do not require integrated graphics as in the BX80684i39100F p/n. The "F" at the end of Intel Core SKU will signify that there is NOT integrated graphics onboard. F-series processors are processors that don’t have built-in processor graphics. They offer a good value for customers who don’t need built-in graphics, because they’ll be adding their own discrete graphics. Thank you for choosing Intel

    • Answer Shady, The 3rd Generation Processors fit Socket 1155, whereas the 9th Generation Processors slot in to the 1151 Boards. That Intel Core i3-9100 Processor is not compatible with your motherboard. Also, If you want fantastic in-game performance, you should really step up to a more powerful processor, like an Intel Core i5 or for better performance, an Intel Core i7 Processor. And why that’s important because many gaming developers develop their games that support single threaded games and you want the fastest frequency available to run such games. So, if you have a more powerful processor, ALL your games will load faster and that means that everything can happen faster…therefore keeping your frame count way up.     • Answer Hi Jim, A lot depends on how old your Dell Optiplex 3040 is? If it already has a 8th or 9th generation Intel Core processor then you should have no problem installing the Intel Core I3-9100 as they should share the same LGA 1151 socket. If you Dell system has an older processor unfortunately it will not be compatible since the motherboard will have a different processor socket. Thank you for choosing Intel.
