QuestionIf you purchase the i7 can you add the auto empty feature at a later date?

- Answer Yes, this is what we did. Highly recommend getting the clean base upfront. If you don’t, when you buy the clean base as an accessory item, it comes with a new bin that you put on your bot in place of the factory bin. The special bin has a “trap door” that the clean base sucks the dirt out of. Short answer, when you buy the clean base after the fact it comes with everything needed for the i7 bot to work with it.

- Answer The Roomba i7 is compatible with 220 voltage. However, you should avoid purchasing a Roomba for use outside of the country as this voids the warranty.

QuestionDoes the I7 have the ability to skip certain rooms? My formal dining room has a delicate rug that I do not want vacuumed. Once the house is mapped, can I exclude the dining room for the normal cleaning routine?

- Answer Once the i7 has mapped the house, you can choose certain rooms to be cleaned at a time. However, the i7 does come with a "virtual barrier" device in the box that you can put batteries in and when activated will tell the i7 to avoid that room or area.

QuestionThis model says it maps the rooms and learns the layout of your home. Does that mean it can only be used on one floor? I was hoping to use it on other levels of the house,

- Answer No. It can map multiple floors and save them. I have 3 maps saved on mine corresponding to the 3 floors in my house. You can name the different maps and the different rooms as well and ask it to clean a particular room or the whole map.

QuestionI'm wondering if the Roomba i7 7150 is strictly for carpeted floors or if it works with Laminate and hardwood floors! Thank you in advance for answering. I found out the 960 is compatible for Laminate/hardwood, but like the emptying device on this one.

- Answer The Roomba i7 is for both carpeted and laminate/hardwood floors. It works equally well on all floor types. We are very happy with its performance regardless of floor type.

- Answer It could, but so far mine didn't. the rotating brush could pick up the wire (especially if is a small one). Mine are pretty good size wires and after a couple of hiccups the vacuum goes around it. as for other obstacles this thing is pretty darn smart. I've been very happy so far

QuestionI have a 960 roomba . I have hardwood floors. Will be returning this model due to a broken piece plus it’s been malfunctioning. I’m considering exchanging it for the model i7 and wondered if it’s better than the 960 and how.? Mapping is a must like my 960

- Answer Hello Bevy, I’m so sorry you’re having issues with your 960, and am happy you’re considering the i7. The i7 does have mapping capabilities similar to the 960, but unlike the 960, after the i7 has mapped your floor plan you can actually choose specific rooms to clean and rooms to exclude from cleaning. You can also schedule cleanings from the iRobot Home App.

- Answer Hello Yu, Roomba can detect stairs and will avoid falling. It has cliff detection sensors underneath to prevent drop offs.

- Answer No it does not get on the stairs. While on the 2nd floor it senses that there is a drop at the stairs and does not go down.

QuestionFrustrated! Just received my Roomba i7 in the mail. There are NO instructions in the manual as to how to pair my phone /app to the Roomba! You tube? Nope! Only the 980. Ready to box it up and send it back where it came from!

- Answer Hello! Assuming you run the vacuum once per day, every single day, you should be cleaning the filters about once per week -- and replacing the filters altogether about every 2 months.
