- Answer We constantly update our software as new threats and ways to counter them are discovered. We send out those updates regularly. No matter when you purchase, you will always have the latest version on your system. This version will protect you throughout 2019 and into 2020. Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

QuestionI now have Kaspersky total Security about to expire. If McAfee Total Protection comparable?

- Answer I am not an expert on Kaspersky products, but I did look at their website and this appears to be a pretty similar product to McAfee Total Protection. I know that both companies score well in independent tests that are performed, so both offer similar protection levels. The features seem to be pretty similar - parental controls, password manager, secure file storage. As far as I can tell, these are comparable products. Of course, I would recommend the McAfee product - we are used by over 90% of the PC manufacturers and Top 100 financial institutions because we have proven ourselves. But that is your decision. QuestionHi, If i buy more than 1 of these. Can i use them later in next coming years? Like if i buy 3 of these and activate 1 on my laptop, after 1 year, can i use the second one - may be on same laptop or a different laptop., and again a year later, 3rd one.

- Answer Yes! In fact, you don't need to wait for the year to go by before you install. You can install at any time and if you already have a valid subscription and then you also choose "Extend my current subscription" when given the option, it will add a year to your subscription no matter when it is set to expire. You can install all 3 at one time if you like. Go to https://www.mcafee.com/activate to redeem your code and setup your account with McAfee. Once the software downloads and installs to your device, you can go back to https://www.mcafee.com/activate to redeem the second code and a year will be added. Repeat as many times as you wish. Because this is a 1-device package, you will not be able to load to other PC's until you invalidate the first PC you install this to, which can be done in your McAfee account home screen which shows the device you have installed to. QuestionDoes McAfee require a credit card on file before it allows the installation of this product?

- Answer November 2025 McAfee Total Protection does require new and updating subscription customers to provide a valid credit card in Step 2 of the download process. **Step 1 is to input your activation code and email address. Step 2 is where McAfee requires a new user as well as a renewing subscriber to input a valid credit card into McAfee's database. There is no way to proceed to "Step 3 - Download" without providing McAfee with a credit card in Step 2. Two technicians tried, and advised that once the credit card information was entered into McAfee's database, it could be deleted in the "My Account" section after the download. However, even if the credit card data has been "removed", the data is still in their database, although it is not visible to the user. The data is still in their records. This is not secure as it should be. *This applies even if one has purchased a non-renewal version of McAfee Total Protection from a business or Amazon.* One technician read a company email to me, that as of October 6, 2025, this is now McAfee's new requirement.

- Answer Signon to your McAfee account. Click on Auto-renewal On Manage your renewal preferences Click on Auto-Renewal Membership Click on Update Settings. Click on End my Membership. Save and logout. Before the end date of the subscription the software will remind to renew.

- Answer It sounds like a cell phone warranty you are referring to. I am a McAfee employee so cannot comment on the Best Buy warranty. You will need to talk to Best Buy support directly about that. McAfee does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee if you are unhappy with the antivirus software. Our support can be reached at service.mcafee.com or 866-622-3911 with proof of purchase to receive a refund. You can also contact them if you have questions about the product, although I can also answer questions here. - Answer I'm sorry it has taken so long to respond. I just now saw this question. If you are saying that your operating system password is requiring you to change your password, this isn't something that McAfee is doing. We have a password manager that stores and auto-fills your passwords, but it doesn't force you to change your passwords with applications or operating systems. However, you could contact our support team at service.mcafee.com or 866-622-3911 and see if they can figure out what is going on with your system. I hope this helps.
