- Answer The CM500 is only the cable modem. Unless you plan on only hooking up 1 computer and nothing else, then yes, this will be able to allow that single computer to stream online video's. But if you need/want additional computers/phones/smart-tv/etc to also be able to get on to the Internet, then you will need to purchase a Router - with or without WiFi depending on if you wanted to be able to connect to the Internet wirelessly or not.

- Answer I have fibre optic cable. It does not require a moden. It connects directly to a router. I suggest a dual band router.

- Answer No, this is a cable modem and CenturyLink only offers DSL service. You will need to obtain a DSL modem from CenturyLink directly.

- Answer No, this is not compatible with VDSL. this is a Cable Modem and uses DOCSIS 3.0 protocol and is very much different than DSL.

- Answer Max speed for this model is 680 Mbps. It shouldn’t be a problem as long as your speed cap is less than 680 Mbps and you have verified your ISP is approved for the modem. If you have Gig service or speeds above 680 Mbps, I would suggest something else.

- Answer Under SPECIFICATIONS on the Bestbuy description (click on the down arrow), it says Downstream Data SpeedInfo 680 megabits per second Upstream Data SpeedInfo 123 megabits per second My xfinity cable plan delivers up to 115 megabytes per second download, and about 6 megabytes per second upload, and the modem works just fine.

- Answer Yes. It does for me in SC. It is on their list of compatible devices. I was able to hook it up and not even have to call to activate it. I hardwired it to my PC and it brought me to a page that self activated it with Charter-Spectrum.
