A:AnswerMy Verizon Fios router is in the basement at one end of the house. . I have gotten a good signal on this extender when I plugged it into an outlet on the first floor at the other end of the house; a distance of more than 40 feet.
A:AnswerThe wifi range extender does not need an ethernet cord. It simply plugs into a wall outlet. It has the option to connect ethernet cords to it, but one is not required.
A:AnswerI don't see why it wouldn't. Once you set up the extender, you will need to reconnect your security camera to the network extension name. It will keep the same network password, but you'll have to specify if you want your camera on a 5G or 2.4G band extension of your network.
A:AnswerIt can't be sharper than the original. Most of my streaming channels are great, but older movies weren't filmed in definitions anywhere near as high as the TV, so they won't be as clear.
A:AnswerYes it should. As I understand it the ring spotlight camera needs to connect to your home's wi-fi.. This product creates an additional wi-fi network within your home. You can plug it into an outlet closer to your ring spotlight camera to receive a stronger signal.
A:AnswerThe prior model of this router from NetGear works great with a sonic wall wireless router I have at my home so I can't see why this model wouldn't work. Very easy to set up. If you get it from Best Buy, you can always return it if you have issues.
A:AnswerYes,
The extender is exactly that. It extends the WiFi.
If your WiFi is weak at the garage. This will definitely improve your signal. Please do a firmware update on the extender as soon as you install it.
A:AnswerYes, this will work with any router - you basically connect the AC1200 (via wifi) to your current wifi (let's say it's "HomeWifi") - once the AC1200 connects to "HomeWifi" it will the create a "HomeWifi_EXT" which you connect to.
A:AnswerYes, you install this somewhere that the wifi signal for your existing one is strong, then this will then extend the range.
Just fyi - if your wifi is "HomeWifi" - this will create a "HomeWifi_EXT"
A:AnswerI had the same problem. My house has so much concrete in the walls that its difficult to get any kind of Wi-Fi signal in other rooms. You notice that the NETGEAR Wi-Fi extender simply extends the signal strength from where ever it's placed. So, if it was placed at the limit of the signal range, you'll just get and extension of that weak signal.
A Spectrum Tech Support guy suggested I get a NETGEAR - Powerline 1200 Gigabit Ethernet Adapters (2-Pack). Costs about the same as the extender, but it uses your home electrical wiring system. I got the new NETGEAR setup today, installed it in about 5 minutes, and it works like a charm.
Now, in the room I was getting just 9mb download speed, I'm not getting speeds in the upper 40mb.
Hope this helps.
