QuestionThis extender (EX7000) is explicitly sold as a "mesh" extender, yet many of the replies state (or imply) that it is not. Can anyone verify that this functions as a mesh extension (all part of the same network, sharing SSID and PW)?

- Answer I configured ours as WFI Access Point which requires it to connect to the original router via ethernet hard wire. I configured it to use the same network name (SSID) and use the same gin password and it is totally transparent to the network as any kind of separate system. When I logon to it it shows me all hardwired and wifi connected to the whole network exactly the same as when I logon to the original router. It all appears as ONE network so yes, it is a mesh network extension of the the original network.

QuestionI currently use a Nighthawk R-7000 and have some trouble when trying to connect to the internet when outside on our Covered patio. I am assuming that the sun film on the doors hampers signals. Can this extender help? do I place it outdoors ?

- Answer No. An extender will not help. You would need to place the extender on your patio, but if the signal from your router isn’t strong enough to get there, then the extender is useless. I was given the same advice, which I ignored. After two weeks of frustration I exchanged the extender for a mesh system (I went with Orbi), and couldn’t be happier.

QuestionOk I'm in a motel I get a week signal in the room I'm in will this work to pick up the signal and work for me the router I do believe is Up on the Roof almost right above me but I get a weak signal and it buffers the only thing I'm running is a Roku

- Answer If you are asking to pick up a WIFI signal with this device to amplify it in your room when you travel then the answer is n. This unit has to be part of the original network and be configured into it. You would need access to the original router to do this.

- Answer Yes it connects wirelessly but don't expect to be able to play fortnite off of the extender. It will work grate for basic stuff like phones and laptops but doesn't work good with gaming.

- Answer Dear Anonymous; Your best bet, based on my experiences installing wireless routers, is to position it in the middle of the home (1st floor area). Having it come from the basement means it has to go through cement, wood, and other thick surfaces. Consider, too, that insulation that's extremely old can cause strange reactions to wireless router signals. My advice to you is to get upstairs in the main living area. Best of luck, Consultant Brian

QuestionCan I use more than 1 range extender to increase the signal range. IE. piggyback them ? Or can I use a cat5 from the RE to another RE to use as wireless at the second RE?

- Answer For anyone having this issue: Type http://www.mywifiext.net into a web browser. You will need to create an account with Netgear, an email address and a password. *You cannot log into the EX7000's setup without doing that first.* In fact, you can't log in to it without using that Netgear account you created. Big Brother Netgeat needs to watch us, apparently. ;-) For initial setup, I had the Ex7000 wired to a laptop via ethernet cable per the instructions. I then used the WPS button on each device to connect the Ex7000 to my Netgear R6400 V1 AC1750 Nighthawk router. These two devices connected absolutely seamlessly.. EX7000 picked up the passwords and security for both bands and it was as easy as that. I did not enable FastLane because it doesn't seem necessary for a non-gamer. I live in a huge old Victorian house and the EX7000 is giving the back half of the house excellent signal strength for Roku, laptops, tablets, and phones. Once you get into the Ex7000's setup, you'll see that there's not a lot of things you can adjust in there. Firmware update and enable Fastlane would be the main two. You can adjust the signal strength, but the default on mine was maximum, which is where I left it. There is only a slight speed drop using the Ex7000 without Fastlane, and I'm going to try running things without it for a while, because I'd rather have the flexibility to connect devices to both bands.

- Answer Hi RV Guy... I use this range extender for the very same purpose you articulated in you question... I installed this product in my RV at home to pull in my WiFi signal emigrating from my home. Prior to installing this product the signal was very weak, and I was unable to use my Dish Satillite and Netflix Apps. The weak signal caused the apps to hang up or degrade the signal to the point the broadcast continually started and stopped... This extender has a feature where you can combine both frequencies to achieve one very strong signal. I took the time to set it up that way and boy was that ever a good idea. The signal quality is first rate, and everything in the RV operates as it should (I.e. Computers, iPad, and iPhone...)

- Answer Since the real world is not a laboratory you will need to figure this out through trial and error. Line of sight, you could probably go 1/4 mile without signal loss.

- Answer I'm guessing you mean 350ft away. This will depend on a few factors, one including your router capability. I myself have the ASUS AC-2400 paired with this AC1900 Nighthawk Extender and between the 2 is well more than 350ft. I also have trees and it shoots up a hill to the extender. I see no problem with this not working for you!

QuestionWill this wifi range extender work in Mexico?On the Netgear website it says that the "country settings" must be set to the country where the device is operating. I had an older wifi extender in our home in Mexico and it worked just fine. I gave the older one to a friend there and I am now looking to replace it with this Netgear model.

- Answer I dont know for sure but I dont see any reason why it wouldn't. Best way to find out is to buy it and try it out. I was unsure also but the Salesperson told me that I could return it if it didnt work. Mine works great. LD
