- Answer Good Afternoon. The cameras with this system are White and the DVR is Black. Furthermore, during the day the cameras display in full color mode. At night, they switch to black and white mode for Night Vision. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

QuestionCan the system be set to always "on" for continuous viewing? So if you want to check the view from the monitor at any time is their a way to turn-on all the cameras? I understand they are motion sensored.

- Answer Hi Prof. With the DVR connected to a TV or monitor via HDMI, you will be able to live view all of your cameras 24/7. Additionally, you have live view options via our FREE CMS on a PC or Mac and via our FREE App on a smart device. By default, the system is set to motion record. If you would like to switch this to 24/7 record, you can do that. However, it will quickly fill up your HDD and recordings will likely only be stored for a few days before they are overwritten to make way for new recordings. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

- Answer The maximum cable run length for this system is 180 ft. Anything over 60 ft. and you will need to purchase a separate camera power adapter for that camera to ensure it receives enough power to activate the LEDs for night vision. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

- Answer Night Owl's DVRs/NVRs can accommodate up to a 6TB hard drive. Our DVRs are compatible with internal SATA HDD's, 2.5" or 3.5". The HDD should have a minimum of 7200 RPM. We are not able to guarantee compatibility with external hard drives at this time. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

- Answer They are, I have 2 exposed in the yard and they handle weather well. Water does not get in or mess up the view. Glass stays pretty clean during rain.

- Answer No it is not. It needs to be plugged into an outlet. There are 2 plugs for it, one for the 4 cameras (will need to add another if adding more than the 4 cameras) and one for the DVR itself. You can add a back up battery for it in case the power goes out, but that will last you maybe a half hour without power going to it. The camera wire and power for the camera run in the same cable.

In order to record audio with this particular system, you would need to purchase an additional audio enabled camera(s) or microphone(s) to attach to non-audio cameras. - Answer Good Afternoon. This system was released about a year and a half ago. 1080p has become the industry standard for security camera resolution. These cameras provide an excellent image. New systems, however, are progressing towards 3 Megapixel (50% more pixels than 1080p) and 5 Megapixel (150% more pixels than 1080p) systems. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
