- Answer The yellow square on the screen of the Nikon COOLPIX S7000 indicates where the focus will go if you press the shutter button down halfway (AF-S Mode only) or fully(AF-F or Pre-AF Mode). If you are using AF-S Mode the yellow will change to green when you do a light press on the shutter button to let you know you have achieved focal lock. A full press down on the shutter button after achieving focal lock allows for a clear and focused image.

- Answer The Nikon S7000 digital camera has an HDR (high dynamic range) composition option that can be turned on and off when you are using the Backlighting Mode. When it is set to "On" and the shutter-release button is pressed down all the way, the camera shoots images continuously at high speed, and saves two images. One image is a non-HDR composite image and one is an HDR composite image in which the loss of details in highlights or shadows is minimized. When the HDR option is set to "Off" and the shutter-release button is pressed down all the way, only one image is captured. The flash will fire to prevent the subject from being hidden in the shadows. If you need to learn more about HDR please contact Nikon Support.

- Answer The Nikon COOLPIX S7000 digital camera is an affordable camera with a lot to offer for the macro-user. Macro options for the COOLPIX S7000 allow the subject to be as close as 1 cm or 0.4 inches from the lens when in auto. For ease of use you can also place the camera in Scene Mode Macro, so changing from auto to macro would be as easy as just switching modes on the dial.

- Answer Try using one of the Continuous options while in Auto, which can allow you to capture a series of images at a fast rate with one press of the shutter button. You may also want to try a scene mode such as Sports Scene, which allows you to capture images in continuous mode to make sure you don't miss any of the action in front of you.

Questionmemory card & battery insertion?Since the S7000 does such a fine job, this 85 year old forgot how to load the memory card and battery insertion. Simple as that, but not if your a geezer.

- Answer To load the battery and memory card into the Nikon COOLPIX S7000 first open the battery door that is located on the bottom of the camera on the right hand side. Gently slide the battery door towards the front of the camera to open it. You will see an orange battery latch inside. Match the positive and negative terminals of the battery to the camera and move the orange battery latch aside to insert the battery. The orange battery latch will then slide over the battery and secure it. The memory card slot is located alongside the battery, closest to the battery door hinge. To insert the memory card make sure the contacts on the card are facing the battery and then gently press it down into the memory card slot. Close the battery door. QuestionIs this OK for indoor only pics?I received this camera for Christmas. I took about 7 indoor pictures on the auto setting. They were blurry and dark. I was so disgusted I put it up. I thought I would do a little research before exchanging it for a different brand. Do ALL cameras take shoddy indoor pics? I've never had one that was great. I sell online and this is all I need it for. It is most likely my lack of knowledge. I have changed settings, etc, and can't ever get it right! Any suggestions? It gets so frustrating!

- Answer From my experience, the answer to that is do you use the flash or not? This model has the "through the lens" flash, and in my experience, it causes shadows on the close-up photos, which I guess is probably what you need. ( have a Nikon S9600 and it works great indoors, and I would strongly recommend that. It is a little bigger, not so pocket-friendly as the S7000, but a much better performer all around otherwise. in my experience.

Questioncan i use 2 AAbatteries?I have a coolpix L22, which I love, but would like to upgrade. The L22 can take 2 AA batteries instead of the lithium-ion battery. Can the S7000 take regular AA batteries also?

QuestionWill this camera send pictures to a a computer or only a phone or an IPAD? If so, does the IPAD/phone have to be a certain version?I'm looking to purchase some cameras for school and we run Chromebases in our labs. I don't know if there are any cameras that could send straight to these or not? We do have some IPADS so I thought maybe this was the better way to go. Looking for ways to get pics from camera to each students' google drive without individually having to upload and share. Any suggestions would be great on a camera if this one won't work for that. THANKS IN ADVANCE

- Answer The COOLPIX S7000 has a Portrait Scene Mode on it. The portrait scene mode will automatically blur the background while keeping your subject sharp. In addition, the camera has a great technology called Auto Scene Selector. When the camera is in this mode, it will automatically detect the subjects face and set the scene mode to Portrait without any input from you.

- Answer It is very easy. The Nikon COOLPIX S7000 digital camera comes with a UC-E21 USB cable which can connect the camera to a computer or laptop for uploading your images. Once they are connected your computer should prompt you on what to do next. You can also take out the memory card and insert it into a card reader on your computer or laptop and upload them that way.

- Answer Cameras like the one you ask about are Point and Shoot and come with zoom lenses. First difficulty with your question is that there are two basic answers. Technical one comes first. Historically the term "normal" and "wide angle" and "telephoto" are defined by the old film dimensions of the 35mm negative. Normal focal lengths were 50-55mm. That's about the diagonal of the negative. Wide angle focal lengths were 'smaller numbers' so that more image got into the same basic negative. A wide angle would run from 24MM to 35MM. And a telephoto would run from 85mm to whatever, like 500mm. Divide the focal length of the lens by 50 and you get (for teles) the magnification (like what power of binocs you are using--500mm is ten power). Second answer is "what do you need/expect." Today the zooms do all three, and well. You can get a LOT into an image with a lens with a wide angle focal length of 24-28mm. 24mm is VERY wide angle. I got a bronze star in VN with two lenses on Nikons 28mm and 85mm.
