Q: QuestionI have a hole in my desk surface through which you can pass cords to the power sources. Does this unit separate the cord from the base in order to accommodate passage of the cords through the access hole?

• A:Answer There is a 'phonebook' feature that this system has. You enter legit phone numbers and store them in this 'phonebook'. Any numbers or allowed names that are not stored in your 'phonebook' list will be recognized by the phone and will require the caller to enter an access code. Automatic and robo-calls are not able to enter the access code so the call is disconnected and the phone will not ring.

The charging stand will need to be connected via a cord to a power outlet (the cord is part of the charging stand). We have a large house, the the signal is clear throughout (100 ft +, and through multiple walls. I haven't tried a hand unit outside, but the previous Panasonic reach was at least 50 ft beyond the house through aluminum siding.
