Yes. This model has parking mode. It will automatically switch to motion -activated only when your parking mode is on. This will save you memory space as well as power consumption. However, you still need to provide power source to the dash camera. As for hardwire option, It depends on the car model and make to see if you need to have the dash cam hardwired. Some car's 12 Volt provides power all the time and some doesn't. If your car doesn't , then you would need to hard wire this dash cam or use a external batter pack to power on the dash cam.
