- Answer Yes. The hub is what controls everything, the app is basically just a remote. The bulbs won't do you any good without the hub.

QuestionThe light bulbs worked fine with just Alexa on/off and dim/brighten.. What does the bridge get me? Also, if I connect the light bulbs to the bridge can I still place them in a room and say "Alexa lights on" and all of the lights in my current room come on

- Answer Google home and Philips bridge work seamlessly together. Most likely the same for Alexa. The bridge I operate Philips hue app and color scenes. When I am away from home I log into the Philips home app and control my lights.

- Answer Yes, one hue bridge can control up to “50” lights and accessories. You may be able to do a few more. You can always set up a second bridge for the rest.

- Answer it holds up to 12 accessories but i dont belive phillips hue offers keyless entry yet they do have it to turn lights on as you get home though

- Answer If you get the Bluetooth one you can control the lights through you phone, using the app HueBT. The hub will be necessary if you want it to be control it also with Google assistance or alexa.

QuestionIf we just need the outdoor motion light which will be mounted above the garage door do we still need the bridge? What would be it's function? It will be near a camera connected to Wifi.

- Answer from what we gather, the bridge allows you to control the different function of the led lights. It gets hooked to you modem, we have it plugged in to the wifi extender, and can use the cell phone to control the lights

- Answer No this is wrong. It is more complicated than that. You need the Hue Play Sync box and that only works for devices connected to it via HDMI.
