QuestionBefore I buy this I was wondering about installation .... I’m good w the technology part using smartphone ect but do I have to wire something or install a switch ect ?

- Answer Only plug the hub to the power socket and to your router (included cables), download the app, then screw in the bulb and follow the in-app instructions. All in all, it took me about 5 minutes to start, then about 30 seconds each bulb.

- Answer they can be any color you want including white. when you use your phone, you’ll be able to precisely pick and choose what color and temperature you want the lights to be.

- Answer The bulbs say “for indoor use only” but there are countless user testimonies online that say they use/utilize bulbs outside to great success... does this mean it will work for you? Maybe. Will it void the warranty? Probably. If you’re really worried about the light... they do make a couple outdoor options maybe look at those.

- Answer This is one of a couple A19 starter kits. This particular model comes with a programable switch, 3 bulbs, and the hub/bridge to run up to 50 lights. There is another option sans switch and 4 bulbs and a third with 4 white bulbs. Just depends on what your looking for.

- Answer Being that there are multiple a19 starter kits I'd say the most likely difference is that the others are either 1 bulb and a switch (this is usually for the white or white ambiance), or 2 bulbs and a hub (white or white ambiance) or 4 bulbs and a hub (white, white ambiance or color). However, this kit includes 3 color bulbs, a hub AND a switch. It's a pretty great combination of most of the accessories you'd need to truly be a "starter" kit.

QuestionIs a bridge need if I want more than 3 light bulbs? I am thinking of purchasing about 12 light bulbs? How many bridges are need for this? Also does 1 switch only work for 3 light bulbs? How many switches would I need for 12 light bulbs?

- Answer A bridge is needed period, even running one bulb, to have it work as advertised otherwise it just turns on to full and off. One bridge controls up to 50 bulbs as stated in ad. One switch will control all lights set to that switch's group, which is set in app, up to 10 lights. If you have 10 bulbs in one "group" or "entertainment area" the switch will control them all.

QuestionWill these lights work in a ceiling fan?

- Answer They will, you’ll just need to leave the light part on. If the fan and light is on the same power switch you’ll have to no longer use that switch and use the pull switch provided on the ceiling fan. I personally did just that and bought a hue switch for the light feature and trained myself to only use the pull switch on the ceiling fan for the fan.

- Answer Volts or Watts? The answers received may be because of the question asked. The voltage is what is supplied by the light fixture as supplied to the home (the bulbs operate at 110-130v). The power consumption is measured in watts. One watt equals one volt times one amp (1W=1Vx1A). On the bulb, it says 10 watts (the power consumption). So, in a hone that provides approximately 120 volts of pressure, the bulb uses 10 watts of power at maximum output (brightest setting), and draws 0.8 amps of current (10w/120v). Hope that helps.

QuestionCan they be used in a fixture hooked up to dimmer switch? If so can they brightened using phone if dimmer switch is turned on low?

- Answer I used these on a dimmer switch for about a year, and they were fine. After that, they stopped working correctly. One of the 3 would not always light up, or they would just randomly change from colors to white. At that point we changed the dimmer switch out to a regular switch, and they have been fine ever since.

QuestionOK, so this may be a dumb question, but are there significant electric bill savings associated with these fancy bulbs? is the brightness output for the white bulbs the same or better than your regular old school bulbs? Tired of spending a lot on my bill!

- Answer These bulbs are 10 watts, compared to incandescent at 40 - 60 watts, or the swirly CFL's at 13, plus the brigde which i think is 3 watts which controls up to 50 bulbs. In short, if your coming from old incandescent, yes, you will see good savings on bills, coming from CFL's, it's marginal at best.

- Answer You have to also install another hue app that keeps you connected 2 Wi-Fi when you or not near the lights/ home. You should be able to connect to that app through your hue Philips app to set it up

- Answer No, just hue branded lights. The hub can control up to 50 lights/units such as a light strip.

- Answer Mine were 4th generation. If the end of the bulb (the part you screw into the lamp) is all white then it's 4th gen.
