• A:Answer Unfortunately, there is no one single answer to your question. There are many variables: Scan resolution, scan settings, image processing features that are used, CPU speed, and memory installed. But all that said, a single-pass scan with no image processing, and dust and scratch removal disabled will take about 36 seconds when scanning at 3600 dpi.

Q: QuestionI have 2500 slides to convert to usb. How does this machine work….do you insert 1 slide at a time or does machine accept a stack? So do you see the image on your computer screen and then save it? When you save it, can you select various files to save

• A:Answer Thanks for your interest in the OpticFilm 8200i Ai. The slide holder holds four slides. It has a manual feed so you manually push the holder to advance to the next slide. Typically customers with large scanning jobs will purchase a second tray so they can have a tray loaded and ready to go. The scanner comes with SilverFast scanning software. You preview the images in SilverFast, make adjustments and then save to your computer. It supports all common image formats: JPG, TIF, PSD etc.

Q: QuestionWhat's the difference between Plustek SE and AI? Is quality better with one of them?

• A:Answer The difference is in the version of software that is provided with the scanner. The SE version comes with SilverFast SE Plus and the AI version comes with SilverFast AI Studio. You can learn about all of the differences on the SilverFast website. But in general, SE is easier to use as it doesn't have as many editing and image processing features as AI. AI comes with an IT8 calibration slide which is important if you have a color managed workflow. The hardware is identical.

Q: QuestionWill this scan the Kodak Advantix Film cartridges?

• A:Answer This scanner is only designed to scan 35mm film. There may be some DIY methods of scanning Advantix film, but you will need to remove it from the cartridge. Contact our technical support group for more information.
