• A:Answer It is only meant to be hardwired to the existing doorbell. No battery options. You can get a transformer to power it but if you can’t hardwire it I suggest you get a RING doorbell meant for battery power.

But first you must install the Jumper lead (POWER OFF ) to existing chime to override it. The Ring chime plugs into any convenient outlet and is simple to set up through the Ring app under "Devices".
