QuestionStreaming appsI see that I can use my own videos by using apps like Windows Media Player or Real Player. Can I also stream apps like Adobe Reader, MS Word or Excel - basically using my TV as a giant PC monitor? As a writer, to not have to look at a laptop screen for extended periods would be great

- Answer Not very easily you would spend more in extra hardware than it's worth. I would go with Ruku 2 it's your best option it has composite inputs you know yellow Video Red & White audio RCA jacks on the back of your TV Good Luck

More specifically, say I go to the SCI-FI channel, I don't mind them mining my viewing habits; but I have a problem with a third party "nosing in", like google snooping on all your traffic on the "chromecast"

Questionroku on my SamsungCan I use roku to get Netflix that I have on another TV..I guess my Samsung Plasma 55 is not a smart TV cause it doesn't have the icon on the menu, although I do have a Panasonic blue ray player that doesn't seem to have the software needed

- Answer If you have a Netflix account and a Roku 3, you can access Netflix on a non-smart TV. Your account is your account; that is the purpose of the Roku 3 (and streaming stick). None of my TVs are smart TVs and I get access my Netflix account on each of them using a Roku 3 on one and a Roku streaming stick on another. I don't see why this would not be the case simply because a TV is plasma vs. any other type of flatscreen.

- Answer There's no reason to stream from your kindle fire if you are using AMAZON PRIME roku has that channel you just add the channel and enter your user name & password when promted.

- Answer You can always use the Roku App on your Cell, or Tablet to be a remote if need be.
