• A:Answer I believe this is the gen 2 motion sensor for the SS3 system. I just got an email from simplisafe about a new motion sensor that has better capabilities. It says that it is much better at detecting the difference between people and pets. the description also says that it has an improved range of 35ft., and a 90 degree field of view.
