- Answer This is the Temperature Sensor, an add-on to the a complete SimpliSafe security system. When added to the system, you can set it to trigger a warning of a specific high temp, as well as a low temp. You'll get notifications through the SimpliSafe app, and can even check the current temp remotely. And if you have active Monitoring Service, we'll also give you a call!

- Answer This is the Temperature Sensor, an add-on piece for a full SimpliSafe security system. It can communicate with the Base Station through the radio, to generate a warning when a low temp or high temp is triggered. But to receive notifications through the SimpliSafe app, you'll need at least a WiFi connection at the location.

QuestionMy concern is being in the house and the heat goes off while sleeping. It gets cold up there. Will it or can it make an alarm sound also ?

- Answer Yes it will. I recently had my alarm go off when my temperature in the house dropped below 60 degrees. This was the threshold I set in the app.

- Answer The Temperature Sensor can be set to both a low threshold and a high threshold. It's intended for warning you if a given room has become too hot, or too cold. However, it doesn't update fast enough to detect a real fire emergency. We recommend installing our Smoke Detector for that purpose.

- Answer The Temperature Sensor, like all other SimpliSafe sensors, should be able to last up to 3-5 years. However, it does need to link up with the SimpliSafe Base Station, which should be plugged in at all times.

QuestionSo as I understand it, If all I want to do is get a text if the temperature drops below a designated range, I will get a text to notify me. I have WiFi at the location. I do not need to subscribe to anything for just a text message. Is this correct?

- Answer Yep, the Freeze Sensor can be set with both an upper and a lower threshold. So it can be used to monitor a rise in temperatures as well.

- Answer If the entire area is always a constant temperature, order one. If temperatures vary in different areas, but one for each varying area.

- Answer You can set a high and low temp. The base station alarms with a different tone than burglar alarm.
