Asked by Barbara.

Q: QuestionWhat are the voltage power requirements for the SimpliSafe Pro Smart Wi-Fi video doorbell
Asked by AJ.
- A:Answer With respect to the power requirements of the video doorbell: Standard doorbells typically get power from a panel-box mounted step down transformer that runs by low voltage wire (18 gauge 2 conductor insulated) to the door bell spring-loaded switch. The output voltage from the transformer is a stepped-down 16-18 volts (depending upon the AC line voltage which fluctuates from 117 - 120 volts-- and is AC (alternating current). The device uses this existing power source and converts the AC to DC (Direct Current) internally, which is needed to operate it.

Q: QuestionIF I USE THE SIMPISAFE CAMERA AS STAND ALONE: Does the simplisafe doorbell send you a text message if it senses activity? I realize you have to subscribe to their cloud service for videos and wonder if that service sends text messages AS WELL.
Asked by wp.
- A:Answer I’m set up with their cloud and I get notifications. I don’t get texts. I like the notifications more. All I have to do is hit the notification and it opens the app on the camera or door bell that sensed the movement.

Q: QuestionDo you need a base station for the simplicam video doorbell camera to work.
Asked by RickNorm.
- A:Answer The Video Doorbell Pro and the SimpliCam both connect to our service directly through your home's WiFi. So you do not need to connect them to a SimpliSafe security system. You'll still be able to set up, livestream, and sign up for cloud recordings, all through the SimpliSafe app.
