QuestionI bought a Sony OLED tv with the soundbar. Do I need both the hdmi cord and the optical cord in order to use the soundbar and listen to the sound while watching tv? Thank you.

- Answer I use the HT-ST5000 with my 65 Sony OLED A1E TV and the HT-ST5000 does not require an external amp of receiver. The sound quality is great especially for movies and music. I am really enjoying this soundbar.

- Answer No, you would block a lot of the sound. It would sound like it was coming from a closed closet. That is why even built in speakers have grills.

QuestionOverall very pleased with the sound bar except dialogue and bass. Our bass tops out at 12 which in itself is difficult to hear. Minimal audio adjustments. All comments appreciated.

Make sure to update the software version of the soundbar for optimum performance: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/home-theater-sound-bars-home-theater-systems/ht-st5000/downloads/00016979 The soundbar features a VOICE function to make dialogues clearer. The subwoofer is a speaker for playing bass sounds. Sound from the subwoofer may be hard to hear when the input source has less bass sound, such as TV broadcast. Make sure to try other sources. The NIGHT mode function must also be turned off. QuestionIs the HT-ST5000 sound bar dual voltage, I am leaving the US for Australia? How do I know if the sound bar is in Atmos mode, does it show in the display? I have a Sony 4K dvd player and the 4K Apple TV but have never seen Atmos displayed?

- Answer Hi there, Thank you so much for your inquiry. The HT-ST5000 US model has a power requirement of 120 V AC, 60 Hz. With the use of a power converter, 240v could be used. When pressing the DISPLAY repeatedly on the remote control or the receiver, if Dolby Atmos content is being played back, “ATMOS” will appear on the display panel. QuestionIs it possible to use Another sub but the one included or an extra sub with HT5000 soundbar? Could a blutooth connected second sub be used? Is it possible to buy a receiving unit to connect to a non wireless sub in order to have a 2 sub solution?

- Answer Its designed to work as is. In the right environment of course. If you require more subs then you would demand more from the bar and you should definitely consider a component system instead. No sound bar of any quality will ever replace that. Adding a second sub would only drown out the speakers and never have the same sonic signature as the original sub. An analog output could be a way to get a sub to “work” but its not the ideal way. The unit would have to have a dedicated sub output.

- Answer For ARC to work properly, be sure the ports that the HDMI cable is plugged in are marked for ARC. Otherwise, you will need to use an optical cable for the sound

QuestionCan I plug all devices into the TV & have the ARC of the TV go to the sound bar & still get ATMOS? I don't want to plug the cables into the sound bar as that requires switching the sound bar input which Logitech Harmony won't like if inputs are cyclic.

QuestionWhat mount could be attached to the Sony 7.2.2 Soundbar so that it can be aimed down from the upper shelf of an entertainment center. The shelf is 19” above the top of the TV. I want to angle the face of the sound bar down towards the viewing area.

QuestionHaving issues. Samsung h7150. Have each other connected VIA HDMI ARC. Xbox One X is connected to the sound bar in Port 2. The Dolby atmos setting isn't available.. help?..

- Answer If you use the ARC feature of the sound bar the Atmos sound will work seamlessly. Just confirm that the TV has an ARC-enabled HDMI port. If it doesn’t, then it may not work.

QuestionI just purchased the Sony A90j OLED TV and the Sony HT ST 5000 both are being delivered, with the TV stand in the sound bar position will the HT ST5000 fit underneath the TV or will it block a portion of the screen?

- Answer There is not a set of dedicated rear speakers available for this sound at like the Z9 (or wherever the next one down the ladder is), however, Sony states that this sound bar can be grouped wirelessly with other Sony speakers with an app so for music at least you could just get a set of compatible Sony speakers and chain those for use as rear speakers (not 100% sure of that would work for movies as the chaining through the app is designed for music). Hope this helps! I have found the sound quality to be quite good irregardless of the lack of rear speakers.

QuestionHow do I get this sound bar to output 7.1 dolby on my Xbox Series X? I have a Samsung QLED TV 900TS 8K and I wanna make sure I get the 120hz still too not one or the other. On Xbox it keeps deselecting it (7.1)

Make sure to update the software version of the soundbar for optimum performance. It is also recommended to use a Premium High Speed HDMI cable. You may also want to check the supported format of your source content. It must support 7.1 channel. We do recommend checking with Xbox support for more information about its settings.
