- Answer It works perfectly with my Viewsonic HD 1080p Projector so I assume no problem if you use HDMI input. I got the Viewsonic since it also handles Svideo and RCA component and USB plus computer.

QuestionI have connected SonyX800 to TV using an HDMI cable and DAC Creek Ruby using a coaxial cable.I will only get the audio from the amp after disconnecting the HDMI cable.When plug HDMI, the audio output from the coax output is switched off. What Is Wrong?TX

- Answer It sounds like you have connected audio output from your disc player to your amplifier. I believe this is not ideal. It is preferable to connect the disc player to the TV (as you have done, with an HDMI cable) and the audio output from the TV to the amplifier. Recent SONY TV's are designed to optimally output the audio channels via an optical cable. If your amplifier doesn't have an optical cable input receptacle, you may be able to jury-rig something to make the connection with an optical cable to an adapter with a female optical receptacle and a male output that fits an audio input on your amplifier. Once you have determined which female inputs are on your amplifier (in addition to coax), you can ask the Geek Squad whether such an adapter exists. If you can make such a connection, make sure you adjust the tv's controls to disable sound through the tv's speakers, because such sound will not be in phase with the sound output via the amplifier.

QuestionI replaced a Samsung 4K unit that was not 3D capable with the X800. I have set the BD Mix to off.Using same connections to my Yamaha RX V681 AVR - am no longer getting ATMOS or DTS-X signal on recvr with x800. This was not an issue with the Samsung M8500.

- Answer HDMI cables carry both audio and video information. You will need 1 cable for each DEVICE connected to the TV.

QuestionWill this improve the viewing capabilities of an older TV that is not 4K or HDR and basically is only 1080 resolution? Specifications mention a conversion option to convert HDR to SDR. So if an HDR signal is coming in it'll convert it to an SDR?

- Answer You should be able to use the 2nd HDMI output that says "audio out." However, your soundbar needs to be able to decode TrueHD, DTS-MA, lossless formats. Unless you have one with discrete speakers, it will only give you the stereo mix. (A standard soundbar is usually a 2.1 system, but there are ones that have 5.1 and up, so that is the issue).

Questiondoes anyone have the info on what setting is in the audio menu for getting ATMOS I have heard its set by default to turn off Atmos and some audio setting has to be changed to get it our disks are Atmos love this player but nothing in the manual.

- Answer I have played DVD's and CD's on this Sony UDP-X800 player. (For sound, I used the "Digital Out" phono jack to connect the unit to my receiver.) It performed well in playing both back, as well as standard Blu-ray discs. It did have intermittent issues with 4K-UHD Blu-ray discs, though. (See my review.) As for your questions regarding the speakers, I cannot help you there. The UDP-X800 has no speakers.

QuestionI have a Marantz 5012 that requires an analog "backup" in order to get audio to zone 2. This Sony only has HDMI outputs. Is there a device that will convert the HDMI to an analog connection in order to utilize the zone 2 on the Marantz?

- Answer An HDMI audio extractor with stereo analog out should work. You would connect it to the second HDMI output on the Sony (audio-only) then run the analog (RCA, etc) to the zone 2 input on the Marantz. Good luck.

- Answer Make sure the HDMI cable you are using is HDMI 2.2 compliant. Make sure if your are using a 4K TV you go into the TV options and set the TV setting to accept 4K pass through from the Player to the TV Make sure your TV supports more than 1 HDMI input that is 2.2 compliant. If only 1 input is compliant you will need to switch your cable to that input. Make sure you are using a USA region Bluray Disc. Not all Blu-ray disc are Region Free meaning if you bought something on the internet and had it shipped from overseas... possible you are using a Region Locked Bluray disc.
