Q: QuestionWhat does NVR mean? I know about DVR but what is NVR?
Asked by SID.
- A:Answer Hi Sid. NVR stands for Network Video Recorder. This means the entire system is digital and there are Ethernet cables between each camera and the recorder. A DVR system uses analog coax cables instead. NVR systems generally offer more features and better video quality. -SD, Swann Team

Q: Question1. Will this record to the dvr without internet of any kind? (Completely off grid) 2. How much power does the whole setup require to work? I will use a battery or solar array. 3. Can I connect to a computer to extract video recording?
Asked by aValuedCustomer.
- A:Answer Hello LW. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. This recorder does not require an internet connection to function and you only need a monitor/TV for the initial setup. However, an internet connection is required if you will need to remotely access and control your device. The general watts per camera are 3.6 Watts, 2.592 KWh/month while the generally uses 72 Watts, 51.84 KWh/month. This system also includes a 1TB HDD that can store months of video before overwriting older files. You can easily back up videos to your personal Dropbox account in the cloud &/or transfer videos to a USB memory stick. Q: QuestionGood morning, is these cameras PTZ??
Asked by MKN.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series 8-Channel 8 Camera, 4K UHD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Hi MKN. No, these cameras have a fixed lens with a 90 degree wide field of view. You can digitally zoom into the image to view things but they do not have optical zoom nor mechanical Pan & Tilt controls. -SD, Swann Team
Answered by Swann

Q: QuestionWhat is the maximum distance you can zoom without losing image quality?
Asked by Mario.
- A:Answer Hi Mario. The cameras in this kit offer Digital Zoom (using whatever pixels are already in the image) rather than Optical Zoom (where the lens physically moves). With digital zoom the image quality will reduce the further you zoom in, but as you're starting with 4K to begin with you should be able to zoom in 4-8x and still see most things clearly. -SD, Swann Team

Q: QuestionWill this connect through WiFi, to see on my iPhone. I have Starlink cause I’m in a rural area and don’t have a router.
Asked by Anonymous.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series Home 16-Channel 10 Camera 4K HD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired, 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Thanks for your question. The NVR should be connected to a router via network cable if you wish to give it an internet connection to be able to view it remotely on your phone. You can also view an NVR locally on a monitor without any internet connection at all if you prefer. In our experience, Starlink routers can be unreliable with an NVR as NVRs require a stable and constant internet connection. Starlink routers jump across satellites frequently & as a result can experience small dropouts. So whilst you may be able to get the NVR to work with Starlink, it may not be the best experience. - SD, Swann Team

Q: QuestionI have a couple cameras that will be over the 328' recommended for POE to work. Am I able to use a POE network switch with this system to increase the length of the runs to make those cameras functional?
Asked by Mike.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series 8-Channel 8 Camera, 4K UHD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Hi Mike. Yes, you can put a switch at every 330ft of cable and keep extending the cable length if you need to. If you only want to go a bit beyond 330ft then it's worth giving it a try without the switch first, there is still a good chance it will work as the cameras do not require huge bandwidth. -SD, Swann team

Q: QuestionWhat happens when the NVR is full? Is the old recorded footage automatically overwritten with the new ones?
Asked by TNJD.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series 8-Channel 8 Camera, 4K UHD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Hello TNJD. This will vary depending on your recording settings. You can set your recorder to record over older files once full or wait for you to clear space manually. Alternatively, you can upload footage from up to 2 cameras & still images from all cameras to your Dropbox account in the cloud. In this case, even if your recorder was stolen you'll have video evidence off-site. Hope that helps. LV - Swann Team

Q: QuestionDo the cameras already come with IP address linked with the nvr?
Asked by Ivanyvienen.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series 8-Channel 8 Camera, 4K UHD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Hi Ivanyvienen. Yes. In most Swann NVR systems, the cameras are automatically assigned an IP address by the NVR itself once they’re connected, so you don’t need to configure them manually. If it’s a PoE (Power over Ethernet) NVR, the cameras typically get their IP addresses from the NVR’s built-in DHCP server, meaning they’re “linked” to it right out of the box. Mary - Swann Team

Q: QuestionHi what's the meaning of power over the ethernet ? Thanks
Asked by Vic.
This question was asked about the related product: Swann - Master Series 8-Channel 8 Camera, 4K UHD Indoor/Outdoor PoE Wired 2TB HDD NVR Security Surveillance System - Black
- A:Answer Hi Vic. The type of cable that connects each camera to the NVR box is called an Ethernet cable. This cable can carry both video and power over the same stretch of cable, hence ‘Power over Ethernet’. It can make the installation simpler as each camera just needs one cable going into it, and the NVR box delivers the power to each camera. -SD, Swann Team
