- Answer Hi Bullhead. You won’t need this antenna because the NWV-650 can already connect via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi to your router if you want it to. So you won’t gain anything extra by adding this antenna. -SD, Swann Team

QuestionI was easily able to install this to my DVR. With a strong signal. However, even tho my router is located very close to the Dvr it frequently disconnects and i have to manually reconnect. I have rebooted both the router and dvr but the issue remains

You can add the USB antenna to the following recorder series: DVR-4480V, DVR-4580V, DVR-4680, DVR-4680X, DVR-4780V, DVR-4980V (4 channel), and DVR-4980 (8 and 16 channel), DVR-5580, DVR-5680, NVR-8580. The Wi-Fi range is up to 100ft/30m (depending on local conditions: if there are no walls in between and no other wireless devices around.) The typical range is up to 50ft / 15m for decent Wi-Fi signal strength if there is at least 1 wall or multiple wireless devices within range. Hope this helps. LV - Swann Team

QuestionWill this work on my Swann DVR 5580

- Answer Even though I just sent you a response, I thought of something else. You will need to get access Adminstrative Rights to your DVD. In other words when I had an issue, the software from the PC did not have many menu selections though speaking to my DVD. After SWANN Support, they said I need a direct DVD connection/sign-in. Support walked me in the direct DVD access. I had to connect a mouse and monitor Directly to my SWANN DVD and support walked me into other menus that SWAN Software does not see for other updates I needed. Your Administrative User and Password should be on a label on your DVD. I suggest you contact SWANN Support and get them to assist you. Do let me know if you get what you need.

- Answer This antenna will work with the DVR-4580V however we do not currently sell it in the UK sorry. The main reason for this is that homes in the UK tend to have thicker walls and be better insulated so the antenna may struggle to get a reliable WiFi signal. You may wish to import one from USA, or you could also look at power line adaptors to get your DVR to connect to your router if you cannot wire it directly with a network cable. However, the USB antenna can be added to the following recorder series: DVR-4480V, DVR-4580V, DVR-4680, DVR-4680X, DVR-4780V, DVR-4980V (4 channel) and DVR-4980 (8 and 16 channel), DVR-5580, DVR-5680, NVR-8580.
