Firstly, if you're powering the dash cam with a constant 12V outlet in continuous mode, you risk draining your car battery. By hardwiring the dash cam, the unit can detect when the engine is turning off and will automatically switch from the ACC to the B+ fuse. Technically speaking, the unit requires the same amount of power, however, the source of the power is the main concern. If the dash cam is not accessing the appropriate power source, that is when you risk draining the car battery.
Also, if the dash cam records and saves all the files when your vehicle is parked, you will most likely end up with an accumulation of unnecessary files and risk overwriting important footage if something were to occur. Thinkware's parking surveillance mode is more storage efficient and it doesn't drain your vehicle's battery.
