• A:Answer The internet is for the guide and the apps. You might can record a show as you watch. The guide is to set up recording programs coming on in the future or multiple programs and apps (other than viewing programs) can be used to record past programs.

• A:Answer To run TVs in other rooms, you will need to purchase a Tivo Mini Lux and connect it to the TV in the other room(s). There are no additional monthly fees for the Lux, it basically piggybacks off the main Tivo DVR.

Q: QuestionTrying to find out if I can save money cutting the cord. With this over the air DVR, do you absolutely have to get a subscription to Tivo or can I just record on a certain channel from 8pm to 11pm like we used to do on a VCR?

• A:Answer No - you cannot record from Streaming channels. I do not know of any device that will record from say Netflix or Hulu. Believe it has to do with copy right laws

• A:Answer Yes, you will still need the converter as this unit only has an HDMI output because it records in 1080. It does not have a coaxial output like VCRs had.

I had to buy a digital antenna for my TV to get it to work, and though it will sync with apps like Hulu and Netflix, it doesn’t record shows from streaming devices. I got about 125 channels by hooking it to the digital antenna, and now I can record the shows from my favorite local stations like CW and Fox. It’s not going to sync with your phone though. • A:Answer Internet connection is necessary in order for the Tivo to download local programming schedules into the Guide. The actual television signal comes through your antenna, not through the internet (unless you choose to purchase paid content). But as far as I know, there's not a way to record your shows unless you connect the Tivo to the internet... Tivo has to continually update the internal station Guide with local programming information and populates the Guide with several weeks' worth of programming. That's what enables the device to be programmed to record the shows.
