QuestionI have an over the air antenna and I would like to be able to record some shows when I am not home. Also if I get cable tv can I still use this unit.

- Answer It's perfect for taping shows from antenna TV, but you will need a different TiVo unit for cable. There are two models, one for antenna and one for cable.

QuestionI just got rid of cable and purchased an indoor antaenna. But I miss being able to record. If I buy this Tivo do I need to also pay a monthly fee or recording services? Is it easy to install? I'm not very savy when it comes to electronics.

- Answer I dont think so. I have mine connected via coax from my outdoor antenna, and also via cat 5 cable to my wireless router (you need the direct connection to get the channel listings. It then connects via HDMI to my TV.

Questionwanting to drop DirectTV. bought roku and antanae. we rarely watch live programs we use our DVR almost 100 percent. can i buy a Tivo to record streaming setvices??is there s monthly fee for Tivo?

- Answer This device only records OTA shows, it does not record streaming shows. There is a guide fee, it is $6.95 per month, $69.95 per year or $249.95 for lifetime. If you get the lifetime, it stays with the DVR and makes your DVR more valuable if you ever decide to sell it. I did the lifetime about 2 years ago on my Bolt and have no regrets.

- Answer I don’t know, I haven’t tried, but to be honest, it doesn’t have all the apps available to download. Also, for the streaming apps that it does sync with, it doesn’t record shows from them. It only records shows from antenna, and costs about $8 a month to do that.

QuestionI am about to dump Dish Network. I have replaced all of the dumb TV's with smart TV's and now have several apps loaded on the TV's. Will this record programming from an app or is just over the air recorder?

QuestionI only need one unit. I currently have Tivo ( about 4 yrs old). I love it. Shopping so I know what is out there. Does this new unit work the same as one I have? I am 79 and really hate needing to learn new tricks!!! I also have Netflix, Prime .

- Answer This unit does sink with Netflix and Prime , but it doesn’t record shows from them. It probably works the same as your TiVo that you have now. The remote control does come with a button that allows you to say out loud the name of a show you’re looking for:)

- Answer An internet connection is required to take advantage of all the features. We have a wired connection. I have not investigated how to use WiFi with this unit.

- Answer Yes, you will have to purchase another subscription. Consider buying the Tivo mini Lux, it will allow you to extend your main Tivo to your other TV & you do not have to pay for another subscription. I have a Tivo Bolt connected to my main TV and a Tivo mini connected to my secondary TV and this setup works for my family.
